We take our 4 year old every once in a while to the Houston Area Live Steamers free train rides on the 3rd Saturday of every month from March through November. It is off of Hwy 290. You can find out more at the following website http://www.hals.org/runday.html

The Museum of natural Science is free on Tuesdays from 2pm to close. And the Childrens museum has free family nights on Thurs night from 5-8 I believe. You can do a search for either and browse the website and you can find all info. The childrens museum isn't that expensive durring the day either!

Good luck and have fun!

Every Wednesday throughout the summer there are free (last years releases) movies at the Deerbrook Mall in Humble and $1 movies at Tinseltown in the Woodlands (also on Wednesday) They are either at 10 or 10:30, you will want to get there plenty early to get a ticket. Also Most of the Museums Downtown are free on Tuesdays after 2pm.

I have a 26 month old son who is extremely active. He goes to daycare during the year, but he is off for the summer, as am I (teacher). We do things on a daily basis, most free. Here are some fun things we do: Children's Museum Tot Spot (5 per person, just say your daughter is under 2 ;<)--then it will only be 10.00 but bring your own food, the food there is not that great), Memorial City Mall Play area--it opens at 10 but you can get in at 9, just jump over the rope gate; Noah's Ark Pool located at First United Methodist Church (Tollway/Westpark--westside) that too would be $10, just say your daughter is under 2; almost all houston libraries have toddler story time and play groups at 10ish; Barnes and Nobles have story times too; McDonalds play areas, give a snack at home before you go and just buy an ice cream or a drink for yourself (much cheaper than going for B/L/or D; there is also 4 in 1 park (one has a covered roof for rainy days) located off of Kimberly Ln and the west sam houston tollway, it is in the town and country area (nice); um, I guess that's about it. It depends if it is raining or nice out and that determines what we do, today we went to Noah's Ark, then it rained so we went to Mcdonalds, then after we went to the park because it was nice out, needless to say I think I am more tired than he is!!! (of course he napped in between)anyway, if you need more specifics on any of this, let me know!!!

Hi J. - I enjoy taking my 2 year old to "The Jumping Party" on Louetta at the corner of N. Eldridge. It is only $5 and very clean, cool, safe and a blast. It will wear them out in just 40 minutes and is great fun. Best to you and yours.

Do a search on the internet for doing fun runs. Exercise with your kids. The cost is minimal.

Also, try the Kids Museum.

There is also a strawberry picking farm off of 288 south, but that's only good during December through April. Anyways, you pick your own strawberries and the kids have a ball and you get to buy strawberries.

You don't even have to go out for fun. Play games with them in the yard. Like freesbie or they can help you garden. They can do simple things like watering the plants or getting their hands dirty. Kids like getting dirty.
