Hi! My son is 9 and was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome about 5 years ago. He is mainstreamed into the regular third grade class with 2 aides with him throughout the day. There are many daily struggles at home, with school and unfortuately not a very undertanding teacher this year. Does anyone have any information about a local support group in the Cypress area? It doesn't have to be in Cypress, just somewhere locally. Thanks so much!
Shelly-I am a mom of a 1 year old and I work part time for a Non-profit in Orange County that provides services to individuals w/ disabilities. I asked a mom I know who is very involved in autism causes for a referral to an asperger support group. She knew of one: aspergers.meetup.com, which although it is based in Irvine, might be of some help via the internet. I checked out the website and saw that it lists a small group that meets in Long Beach. She also gave me two email addresses to give you - I believe these are two women involved in the asperger website. They are ____@____.com and ____@____.com. I don't live in cypress but I grew up in the are. You should try meetup.com. I found two great moms groups with woman my age and kids around my childs age. You would be supprised at what you might find.

Dear S., I have a 12 year old Daughter with autisim. Jamie is so wonderful. I belong to a Moms group that meets every 4th tuesday of the month. We also do a summer fun at a local public pool in west Garden Grove. It's at valley view and chapman. It is 8 sundays in july and august from 12 to 2. everyone is special needs and it is a great time. Please contact me if you are interested and i will give you all the info. J. H.
