Liquid Hand Soap

As Myrna already suggested - vinegar and baking soda will take anything out of a carpet! I kid you not - I have only recently discovered the magic of using everyday household items to clean with, and I feel like a jackass for spending money on expensive cleaning stuff...

There's no magic recipe - I would just cover the area with baking soda, pour vinegar on top, and wait for the bubbling to break up the soap. Blot it up with a thick white towel, then repat the process using only vinegar. Blot it up again. If you can still feel soap in the carpet, repeat the whole process. It should work!

Ugh! What a mess for sure.

Have you tried renting or using a home steam cleaner with just water in it over and over again? Soap will come out - but it takes alot. You might also be able to do it with a wet/dry vaccum - get iut really wet and then vaccum it up.

You could also add a little fabric softener to it - that cuts suds and will soften the carpet if it gets stiff from the soap.

Vinegar might also cut the slickness and break it down - but then you would have soap AND vinegar on your carpet. LOL!!

I'm a 7l year old grandmother and when I was raising my children, my mother was the problem solver. My son threw up on a brand new carpet and I tried to get it out with an expensive carpet cleaner in a can. Well it took the color out of the carpet along with the other ick. My mom used either vinegar or baking soda on anything that was a tough stain. She said "why didn't you use baking soda on it?." I kid you not, have a great big box of baking soda in the house. Sprinkle it on the soap, let it sop up the liquid then when dry, vacuum it up. One who has been there. M.

I would advise using a carpet cleaner. My friend had the same thing happen and she just didnt clean it up until a year later and it bleached the carpet.
