I'm 34 weeks and it's time to start planning little man's arrival. Last night we had a 3D and the tech told me he's still breech. She said she didnt think he would turn before the big day. My doctor told me not to worry until week 37. I'm not worried, I just wish we knew which path we'll have to take. Do you have any advice if I do have a c section? What should I expect or any other advice you wish you were given.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

HE DID TURN! We went to a Zac Brown concert as our last date, and I think he painfully did it there:) Hey, we'll take it!

My son was born feet first...and believe me it was not as painful as head first....the doctor said let's just see how things go. I know nothing about c-sections..can't help you there...but I'm glad I didn't have one. Good luck!

The tech was OUT of line....listen to your doc....the baby still has time to turn. If for some reason he doesn't your DOCTOR, not the tech will take good and proper care of you.

Blessings....

Hi M.:

Your baby still does have time to flip. In the event that you do have to have a c-section you will have a bit longer stay in the hospital. You will get to see your baby right away but my husband always got to hold the little ones first as you will be in recovery. I am not going to lie and say that healing doesn't hurt because it does...coughing hurts. Each day does get better. They will give you meds, take them. You will be able to nurse if you choose to. You will be sore like I imagine you are after a natural delivery but in a different place. If people offer help, please take it. I was trying to be a super woman after my first & wouldn't let my mom help out much. Different story with my second. You will have dissoluble stitches with steri-tape on your incision. You incision will start to itch and the tape will fall off. The itch indicates its healing. Honestly, the worst part was your first bowel movement after delivery. Good luck to you. You do still have 6 weeks for that little miracle to turn! Good luck!

After my c-section I tried to do too much too fast. Everyone told me to take it easy, and I thought I was, but I WASN'T!! Don't do anything! Walk as you're instructed, but let others change the baby, dress the baby, bathe the baby. Hold him as much as you want once you're sitting. Don't try to clean, cook (even for yourself), or do anything other than wander from one sitting place to another. You must give your body time to heal. I didn't and really regretted it.

Has your doctor said you will have a c section if he doesn't turn? That seems odd to me. I had a few friends that the baby didn't turn and the doctor turned the baby. I have heard it is a less than pleasant experience but nothing like a c section.

I was just throwing this out there in case you wanted to discuss it with your doctor.

go to your nursery and look at it with a new eye!
do you have a place to change diapers with out bending or stretching?
do you have to bend over to get her Get his diapers, what about his clothes?
do you have to reach to get the little blankets?
is your crib set to it's highest setting?
seriously, look around. if everything you need on a daily basis isn't at waist level - Get it there!

i found the long open ended "gowns" best to changes diapers at night. in fact my little one Lived in then for the first month!

I also recommend a Boppy. it makes it much easier to breastfeed.
i had the best luck with the "football" hold. it kept her off my scars.

i dont want to scare you, but this is surgery, and you will need recovery time! can your husband stay home from work for a week or two? what about your mom, sister? i would line up some back up.
and when they tell you to walk in the hospital! DO IT!! Do it Often!!

My son was a week late and I had to get a c section because he was so big. He was 9 lbs 8oz. I cried when I found out that I had to get a c section because I was so scared. The thought of being cut open freaked me out. But I had to relax and let them do it. It was last minute thing for I was not planning this. It's been almost 11 months and when I think back I still remember how scared I was. But everything is fine and was fine. You have to take your pain meds and walk it off. Just get up and walk around the house but take it easy. Hopefully you do not have to have a c section but if you do, just remember that you will be okay! Whatever is best for your baby right? Take care honey and good luck!

my first daughter didnt turn till a week before birth, my second had turned down at 33 weeks and the flipped back to breech again at 36 and then at 40 weeks my water broke, the did a quick ultrasound to see if she was head down and yep she had once again flipped down. My son flipped into down position at 39 weeks and I swear a day before birth cause I felt this colossal movement one night that literally about threw me out of bed. I am surprised the tech mentioned that... they generally can NOT tell you anything more than yes or no to a question you ask... I had to ask all the questions and my tech was like ooooh cant answer anything just ask your doc. She noted my questions on the file and the doc cleared them all when we would meet again. As far as C-sections I dont have any I had all naturals every time, i had no pain meds with my second, and only oral pain meds with first. The last one I had a MASSIVE Migraine going into labor, so they suggested an epidural to help me. Which I agreed to, well they botched it, they managed to paralyze my whole right side and NO pain relief at all. Still in physical therapy for nerve damage on that one. grrr.

I suggest two things:
1. A chiro who does the Webster technique. If your hips are out of alignment, then your uterus will be wonky. If they can get you aligned, the uterus should go back into the normal shape and the baby should turn.
2. Homeopathic pulsatilla. For some reason, this works. Take 4 tablets (hylands brand) every 4-6 hours (don't wake up at night to do it though). Amazing.
I had a transverse baby, and these helped. She turned and was delivered vaginally without a problem. I did have to keep getting adjusted though because after a few days my hips would go out again and she would flip. I could feel her do it. A stern talking to did no good. :)

I went to my 37 week appt. and learned I had preeclampsia. They needed to get her out ASAP. Ultrasound showed she was breech. Had a c-section.

Second baby was a scheduled c-section.

I don't think healing from the c-section is all that bad, but I don't have a vaginal birth to compare it to. Dealing with the magnesium sulfate with the first (due to the preeclampsia) was worse than just the c-section. Having my back go out a day after I got home from the hospital with the second was way too difficult (for 6 weeks!!!!). I couldn't stand, walk, sit, or shower without pain in my back. The c-section pain and recovering was second fiddle.

I agree - take it easy with a c-section and let others tend to you while you tend to baby. You can let others change him, wash him, and change his clothes. They can make the meals, clean the house, and do everything else. You can hold him as much as you want, feed him, etc. Take advantage of that!!!!! It won't be long and you'll be doing it ALL. :)

Congrats and best of luck with your delivery!!!!

Don't worry if it comes to having a C-section. When I was pregnant with my son, my water broke and they induced me at the hospital. He wasn't breech, but I dilated to 8 and he got stuck, so I ended up having a C-section. When my daughter came along we scheduled a C-section. It was easy peasy and I wouldn't do it any other way to be honest! The only part of my labor experience I felt like I missed out on was the pain!!! Seriously. Don't stress about this. Whether you deliver naturally or by Cesarean all will be fine. Good luck and I wish you all the best for your little guy's arrival!
Added: I do want to offer this advice. They gave me staydol (sp?) to help ease the pain of my contractions and then I also had the epidural. I highly recommend them and both of my children are bright, healthy, vibrant children today. So it had virtually no effect on them whatsoever, but it helped me enjoy my experience throughout! However, afterward (if you have a C-section) they will give you percoset or vicodin for pain. Try to wean yourself off of these as quickly as possible because they can mess with your digestive system. Oh my word! I became so constipated after having my daughter that that really was the worst part of my delivery experience with her. It took a good month of constantly drinking water, eating a ton of fresh fruits and veggies and taking fiber supplements and stool softeners to really feel back to normal. I didn't even take the pain pills more than a couple of days while in the hospital! The nurses will try to persuade you to take them, but you can refuse them and take advil or motrin instead.
God Bless,
A.

I'm 36 wks now and our little guy was breech also. I had an ultrasound yesterday and found out he had flipped and is now head down. This is our 4th son and I was just as nervous as you. I'd start worrying if he is still breech at 37 wks, but I've had a lot of friends tell me thiers didn't flip till the last day or even minutes before delivery. :) good
luck

I never had a breech birth, but I did have a c-section. I loved it, I had two natural births with no drugs, so having a c-section was so easy. The reason my doctor allowed me to have it, was my child could have been a little too big, he was still 8 lbs 15 oz, but they thought he might be 10+ lbs. Anyway, I wanted it because my sisters had all had one and told me that they weren't bad at all. I really don't remember any pain with having it, I healed very nicely. A week after I had him I was looking at a places to rent and ended up moving 3 1/2 weeks after I had him. I really don't remember having any problems.

Hope all goes well for you Momma!

With my daughter my doctor had had me do certain "excerises" on all fours and while laying down to get her to turn. It worked. Ask your doctor.

As for c-section...I didn't get any advise as mine was an emergency c-section with my son. I was so thankful my mom and A. were in town for it. (We lived two states away from them at the time). They helped take care of my daughter, cleaned my house top to bottom and just made sure I was comfortable when I came home. My A. who had a c-section said "when they tell you it's time to get you up and moving around, DO IT"...even though it hurts like hell, do it...

I think the worst part for me was having a bowel movement...it hurt SOOOOO bad. Take the laxative if they offer it...take the meds they give your for pain, and keep moving. The more you move the easier it gets.

Good luck and congrats.
