Does the ob/gyn also deliver your baby? And are there any recommendations for an ob/gyn for this hospital. I prefer a woman.

What can I do next?

I've been seeing Dr. Cynthia Mace-Motta since 2000. She delivered both of my babies. I even moved to Allen and wouldn't change doctors. I love her! She only delivers there. Her office is a floor away from L&D. I highly recommend her.

I haven't used that facility- but also preferred a woman... unfortunatly my daughter took so long to be born that my doc had gotten off for the day (14 hours) so I did have a male deliver. Thing is though, that by that point I almost didn't care if the janitor came in and delivered her.... I was ready to be finished and see my child! In that moment you likely won't care who the doc is as long as they are doing their job well.

Hi J.,

Yes, the ob/gyn does deliver your baby. My first baby was delivered by Dr. Maxey. He's a man, but very gentle and extremely funny! He has a wonderful bedside manner.

Shelley Ramos came very highly recommended to me. My cousin has been seeing her since 1994 and just had her first baby with her! I know someone else who was also delivered by her.

I saw Dr. Carmichael in the beginning of my first pregnancy (she's a woman). She is very nice, but also busy. She has or had two offices. I certainly didn't feel like her only patient.

Dr. Vialba (woman) is another Dr. that delivers there. She assisted my c-section with my first. I don't know her other than that she delivers at Las Colinas.

I know that you are looking at Las Colinas Med. Center, but I would also like to add that my 2nd baby was born at Baylor Dallas. (I live in Valley Ranch) and my experience was 10 times better there! Dr. Audrey Graham delivered my 2nd baby by VBAC. The level of care from the doctor to the techs that changed my linens was a world of difference from Las Colinas.

I'm not saying that Las Colinas was bad. It is certainly a newer and smaller hospital and it has it's upsides. If it weren't for Dr. Graham, I would have had my baby with Dr. Maxey (In fact I changed at 36 weeks!)...but my decision to change Dr's and hospitals was the best I ever made!

Good luck!

Not to put a damper on your plans, but my sister in law is a labor and delivery nurse and actively tries to dissuade people from Las Colinas Med center because their NICU is not as advanced as some of the others around. And they do not have a anesthesiologist on site at all times, so that can cause a bit of a problem if you have to have an emergency c section if something goes wrong. Hopefully your pregnancy and delivery will be completely normal and problem free, but it's nice to know you have options if something does go south!

I delivered at Baylor Irving, and went to MacArthur Ob/Gyn. I see Dr. Livingston (who is male), but I LOVE him. I didn't want to see a male Dr, either, but he's so great and came so highly recommended that I gave him a try and wouldn't want anyone else. He does have a female partner - Dr. Dominique. She's great, too!

Yes, an ob/gyn takes care of you during your pregnancy and delivers the baby (although only there for a few minutes, usually just in time to catch the baby). Las Colinas Medical center is a highly interventionalized hospital. Most patients are not allowed to get up and walk around in labor, (require continued fetal monitoring) and the cesarean rate is really high there. I did attend a birth with Dr. Ramos and she was supportive of my client getting out of bed, and I thought she was very nice, and easy going. Unfortunately, even the best of the doctors have a hard time fighting rules at a hospital where they have certain policies in place. The nurses there do not know what normal birth is like, and are not comfortable with women laboring naturally - and doctors can't be there all the time to protect your birth plan.

I agree with Joy H, when she recommended Baylor in Dallas (BUMC). You can have a midwife take care of you during your pregnancy and she can also deliver the baby. There are also several good Ob/gyn's as well- Dr. Audrey Graham is a lady doctor, and very supportive of natural birth.

Good luck!

I've been going to Dr. Shelley Ramos for over ten years and had my first baby in 2007. I really love her and she is very easy to talk to as well as her staff. When I go to her office I feel like I've known everyone there for a long time, even if a year goes by. I had my son at Las Colinas Medical Center and loved the hospital. My doctor did deliver my son and her husband gave me my epidural. The nurses were wonderful. I was on bedrest due to developing HELLP syndrome towards the end of my pregnancy and my son was born 5 weeks early and was in the NICU for a week. The staff in the NICU were really great and I had no problems whatsoever with this hospital. In fact I had to have my gallbladder remove that same year and went back to Las Colinas Medical Center because of the experience I had before. I live in Fort Worth, so if that tells you anything. I'm also pregnant with my second and will be delivering at Las Colinas again. Good luck in your search.

I delivered a baby boy in March of this year at Las Colinas Medical Center. I was very impressed by the hospital and staff. I liked that it was a smaller facility and I really felt like I got personal attention and got to know all the staff during my stay. I would highly recommmend it.

My OBGyn is Kristen Carmichael. I've only been going to her for about a year and a half but I like her. She was there for the delivery of my baby and didn't seem to push having a c section as other Doctors do.

Dr. Carmichael is my ob/gyn. She is very friendly and so is her staff. I never felt rushed. She has an office at Las Colinas and in Coppell. She also does not pressure you to be induced if your baby is past due. My baby came 2 days after his due date but Dr. Maxey ended up delivering my baby. I did not want a male Dr either but he made me feel comfortable.

I haven't had any babies but I see Dr. Villialba at Las Colinas for my annuals and she also assisted with a surgery I had a few years ago. Dr. Maxey was the main doctor on the surgery but I think he could tell I was a little uncomfortable with a male doctor. Dr. Villialba has been thorough and she has a good bedside manner the few times I've seen her. Dr. Maxey is also very good, though he is a male doctor. Good luck!:)

My friend had her son at Las Colinas Medical and it was horrible. They ended up transferring him by ambulance to Baylor Grapevine. They were not equipped to handle any NICU issues. The ATM's didnt work. We were all very frustrated and were relieved when they got them out of there.

Our first grandchild was born 5 years ago at Las Colinas Medical Center. Our daughter's OBGYN was Luann Hassan, MD.

Femme Care Associates

At the time our daughter saw her, she was officed at the medical center.

Our daughter liked the care she received. Check to make sure that she is a physician covered under your medical plan. We thought that our daughter's pregnancy was a covered service under our medical insurance only to find out at delivery that pregnancy was not a covered service for dependents.

The Dr. I used was Dr. Jennifer Staud (she is in the same office as Dr. Stamos mentioned below). Their phone number is ###-###-####. She is the BEST dr. I've ever had. She is very personable and kind. She takes the times to listen and help you every step of the way.

I LOVED Las Colinas Medical Center! Every person I came in contact with was wonderful! I had to deliver 5 weeks early because of my blood pressure and I was so worried but it went great! I'm a first time mom and had no idea how to breast feed and had lots of questions. They were all willing to help and were very patient. I would recommend that hospital in a second!

Good luck in your search!
