None of my other kids have done this, has anybody else have weird stories. My almost 3 year old screamed and went into tears, lower lip trembling. My son hardly every cries like this. All I did was start to slice a banana for my cereal.

Yes I am a banana killer. Needless to say I stopped and his tears stopped. He asked for the banana and then gave it a hug and a kiss. Then proceeded to eat it. He has told me no now for getting a knife near a banana.

Anybody else have any weird stories, or do i just have an unusual kid. LOL

What can I do next?

Those dang veggie tales! For us it was indeed veggie tales and talking veggies that did in my little one lo these many years ago now. It took a bit to figure out that talking cartoon figures had personalized food to such a degree in her little head that she couldn't tolerate me slicing them! LOL! It passed pretty quickly with explanation and a sharp realization that toddlers cannot perceive that TV is pretend.....

That's a really funny story. You should write that one in his baby book!

Wonder if he's feeling out of control, or really connected to Veggie Tales?

How about giving him a plastic knife and letting him cut up and experiment with different foods? Including bananas.

I have little tolerance for kids who simply won't try new foods. (I know, it's my problem.) However, I always want them to at least try and make it fun for them! And if he doesn't like it, we just say "I guess your tongue hasn't grown up yet." If next week he likes it, we congratulate the milestone by stating that his tongue has grown up!
LOL

My sisters youngest used to sniff every piece of food he ate. Every bite. It was comical to watch.

My daughter has never seen Veggie Tales, but she has gotten upset when I cut up some food. I think kids like to hold onto food to eat it.

Another vet that I used to work with had a son at 3 that decided that A) he didn't want to eat any chicken or other meat, because he liked animals and didn't want them to die (smart kid!) and B) would not eat any snacks or other foods shaped like animals, like Teddy Grahams, because he "didn't want to eat the bears". It just got really personal for him, so I guess your kid is not the only one! LOL!

My son has suddenly started getting upset when his food touches on the plate. He came out to the kitchen as we were trying to finish plating everyone's food, and complained that his food was touching and he couldn't eat it like that.

I had never heard him say that before, so it came as a shock. I did notice however, that he's getting very picky about his food touching and the order it's in. (He can't have green foods "south" of carrots. Corn or any other yellowish food has to be "north" of green foods. His bread has to be on the left side of his plate, and no where near his meat/protein.)

How cute!
I love that he did eat the "poor" banana, lol.
My only has becoming extremely good at eating food with peas, eating everything else but leaving the peas intact, I made a joke once to my husband that she would be a good kisser and I got the meanest look ever, chezz was just a joke, lol.
Oh, and the one day I LOVE this food and the next I HATE it drives me nuts.

Catwalk, my daughter do something similar, she would say "Mom, cows "give" us milk" I would say, not give, "produce". But she would continue, "and pigs give us their meat and chickens gives us their eggs!"
Palm face, lets go home fast.

lol that is funny...poor guy. My 5 year old granddaughter can't use the same fork for everything on her plate. She needs one for her salad or veggie and one for the meat and one for whatever else she is eating. I told her I didn't mind but when she gets into school next year and eating lunch in the lunch room they will not be so willing to have different forks.
