Wow, never thought I'd write that sentence! My son had a major accident and peed on a giant stuffed bear (one of those that doubles as a chair). It was a lot! Is there any way to save it? Could a dry cleaner fix it? I soaked up as much as I could last night, but it still smells. Ugh. I am guessing it is a lost cause but figured I'd ask before I toss it! Thanks.
Cover the area with baking soda to lift out the urine. Then when dry spritz w/vinegar and let dry in the sun- see if that helps- works on mattresses.
ABSOLUTELY!! We've had to do this too (and with pillows). I didn't read other responses, so I may be repeating. Just spray white vinegar on it and pour as much baking soda on as you can. Let it set until baking soda dries. I usually leave it for a day or more. Then, wash in washing machine with more baking soda and vinegar (I just sprinkle a little baking soda in the wash though, but I add vinegar like I would bleach). Let air dry and see if it got everything out. If it didn't, then you just repeat. I think I've only had to repeat once, and it was with something that had a mildew smell rather than urine that time, but it worked. Good luck to you!
OH If it's too big for the washer, then just set it in the sun while it's drying and vaccuum the dry baking soda.
You could try Nature's Miracle from PetSmart, it works for dog urine.
You could rent a steam cleaner with the furniture attachment. It will pull as much as it can out of the stuffing.
I throw all stuffed animals in the washing machine. It will take a long time in the dryer, though, probably. I guess if you have a regular washer, it won't work the same. We have a front loader, so I'm sure it would fit in there. You might find a laundromat- they have front-loaders, or if you have a friend that has one, you might ask to borrow it.
