Is She Missing Teeth?

My daughter(11.5months) has her top 4 and bottom two. I think she is getting a molar on her bottom left in. Shouldn't her teeth besides her bottom two come in before any other teeth? My hubby does have a family history of missing teeth. He is missing two and two of his adult teeth never formed so he had his baby teeth on his bottom until he had them pulled and had a bridge put in when he was 21.

What can I do next?

Teeth come at many stages of the first few years and in many different patterns, so this isn't necessarily a sign that she will have dental issues. But it is a good idea to go ahead and tell her dentist her dad's dental history when you take her in the next few years.

How old is your daughter? Do you take her to the dentist? I took my daughter to the dentist when her first two teeth came in. She is four now and I have already been forewarned that she will need braces as she ages. He stated they are too perfectly straight & that that usually indicates there will be crowding. At any rate, if you take her in and make them aware of your Husband's teeth history they should be able to tell if this is the case with your daughter.

Good luck!

It's called evolution. My son got his teeth in the regular way you are describing. Our daughter got the first front teeth top and bottom in and then came the chewing molars. So she may or may not have any missing teeth. Check with your peds when you get a chance.

Have a happy holiday season.

She is old enough to go to the pediatric dentist. Ours starts seeing kiddo's as soon as the first tooth comes in. My grandson who just turned one has already gone for his first appointment. They don't do a lot of poking, just a basic exam and such. Most dental insurance will cover the visit and if the do a cleaning.

My youngest is about 19 months old. On the bottom, she has her front two teeth, one of the other front teeth, and a few molars. On the top, she has her front four teeth, and a few molars. And I guess when I say molars, I don't mean molars...but the "chewing" teeth that are farther back than the canines, which she has none of yet. I think that's perfectly normal.

I think ever child is different. My daughter got her bottom front two and there her top side two before the front two came down. And I am pretty certain she got molars before those two side teeth came in too.
