Hello, you have all been so helpful in the past. I think that i have Clostridium difficile and I may be pregnant. I wont be able to take the pregnancy test until the end of the week or first part of next week. I was on Clindamycin about 2 or 3 weeks ago after having teeth pulled. It said on the bottle to call is diarrhea occured. And it has, big time. My question is, do any of you know if this is something threatening to the baby if i am pregnant? I plan on calling my regular doc tomorrow as i just looked this up tonight and think i may have this C-diff. any help/answers/advice would be appreciated. And again, I know i need to speak with my doctor, which i am tomorrw, just wanting to hear from some of you as well. THANK YOU!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

well, i had to give a stool sample so they can make sure if i have it or not. the typical med they give is not recomended for pregnancy and it is too soon for me to take the test. so i am now in the waiting game. should know in a couple days and by that time i should be able to take the prego test.

C diff is horrible!!! I had it and so has my MIL, not fun, hope you don't have it. I very much agree that you need to get a high quality yogurt (Chobani greek yogurt is good, but any that has active live cultures will help. Try to stay away from a lot of the added sugars and junk in it), You may need to add a probiotic supplement, but make sure you get a really good one, (not one from walmart ), you need to research this part.
I don't have any idea about whether it would be harmful to a baby, just know how miserable it is---soooo sorry.

take probiotics or eat yogurt to help repopulate your gut with good bacteria. Those are definitely good for pregnancy and may help prevent allergies in the baby. Antibiotics and diarrhea wipe them out. Based on the info here:

you are probably ok with this medicine if you are pregnant, but hopefully you've talked to your doc by now.
Good luck!

For the short term, drink plenty of water to counteract the diarrhea. Yup, call the doc in the a.m.

are you wondering if the medication is dangerous or the diarrhea? I'm not sure about the medication. when I looked up what you said you took for having teeth pulled it mentioned it was not safe for pregnant women but you'll need to ask your doctor.
As for the diarrhea...just try to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water (no caffeinated drinks as they are diuretics) and eat a BRAT diet. (bananas, rice, apples, toast). Hopefully that will help with the diarrhea.
Good luck!!! Congratulations as well!!! I hope you get a positive!!!
