Hi Moms! Well I think we found the perfect house - it is in Bluffs Of Lookout Canyon and the local elementary school is Specht Elementary School. I am looking for advice on the area. Our daughter will be 2 in Jan so we have a while before she would be in Pre-K but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experiences with this school? I am also looking for playgroups, and lots of other fun activities in this area. We are moving in 3weeks! I am so excited! Thanks in advance for all your advice and ideas :)

What can I do next?

I wish so much that I had known about the following website when I was moving. I hope this helps. There are even parent reviews. One thing I found to look for is the area that shows how many kids are on free lunch. If there are a lot of low income families there just any much parent involvement. It makes a difference because it is very difficult to raise money for the school when parents don't care a whole lot about what is going on. I hope this helps. I looked up Specht for you.

That is a great area! (we almost bought a house in Lookout Canyon, we went for one a little closer to 1604). Specht Elementary is a terrific school and this area (The northern part of San Antonio) is a great place to live. We have easy access to all of town. San Antonio is very spread out, but since you are right off of HWY 281, you can get to Shopping and the Zoo/down town with no trouble. The traffic can be a real bear around rush hours (early morning and evening). Also, we are about 20 minutes from Sea World and even closer to Fiesta Texas (which will be fun when your little one is a bit older). There are so many parks and natural areas nearby as well. Have fun!

My son is in 3 rd grade at Specht and it is a very good school. They really are there for the kids. My younger son is almose 4 and he goes to Aragon Spanish Academy. Which is not that far from where you are going to live. We live just down the road in Indian Springs. We moved here a year ago from Minnesota. We love it. There are some churches north on 281 that have Mother's Day out programs.
I hope this helps.
