My current pediatrician is very old school who will prescribe antibiotics for almost everything, many times I would take the prescription and end up not giving it to my son and he will be fine. I decided that I need to look for a pediatrician who I can trust and know that when a medication is prescribed it will be necessary. I use homeopath for my two kids and they work very well but the pediatrician has no idea, I need someone who will support or at least understand this. I live in Houston in the Galleria area and I don't mind anyone even if it is not close.

Hi! I hear you. And after all my searching, I ended up with a family chiropractor. He is the only one who showed me how to 'restore' health, not medicate every little problem. Message me if you would like his info. I just couldn't find a pedi that would listen to me, or work with me.

I'm with the other two moms. Blue Fish Pediatrics is a great place. My sons sees Dr. Peter Jung. Overall, it's a great place and the doctors are so nice and understanding.
I use Dr. Sponenberg at the Kelsey Sebold clinic on Augusta in the Galleria area. She is an older pedi, but very knowledgeable and open to all types of treatment. She has never given my son antibiotics and he is 19 months. He has been ill a few times with fever etc., but she knew that it wasn't a bacterial based infection so she did not prescibe antibiotics. I think she is the best of both worlds. I pedi with numerous, at least 30, years of experience, but she is constantly educating herself on the most current discoveries in the medical field.
I live out near the Katy area, and my childrens' pediatrician is great. He hardly ever prescribes an antibiotic. They feel that if you prescribe them antibiotics to often as a child they never build an immunity to anything. His name is Dr. Roy Clarke MD Pediatrician, and is off Fry Rd near I10. I go to a great Ped. who is not for antibiotics.My son is four and has only had two persc. for antibotics since he was born. He also was a premie. (33 weeks).My ped. name is Andy Wei, M.D. and he is from Texas Childrens Pediatric Associates and his office is located at Hilcroft and Westpark. His phone is ###-###-####. He is one of the best doctors that I have seen in a while. he has had several write-ups in the new media and he goes to the Childrens Museum and does a question and answer session every Tuesday afternoon. If you have a question about your child and you call the office, then they will take a message and then HE(the doctor) will return the call. You will not talk to a nurse. This is so hard to find these days. i hope you will check him out and hope that you will be pleased.

We go to Dr. Julie Schlegel with Houston Pediatric Associates in Bellaire. This is a large group of pedis and they are all good, but Dr. Schlegel and her partner Dr. Brooke Lasics are the best.
They are both young, so while practicing traditional medicine they are open-minded and will listen to the needs of the individual patient and family.
We did have to fight off some ear infections with antibiotics, but otherwise they don't tend to jump straight to the medicine. They both listen to me. They are very good at engaging the parents in the process and developing a partnership rather than a dictatorship.
They have taken the time to get to know my family and treat us as individuals.

She was our 4th pedi before we felt like we had found a dr that was truly concerned with her patients and not just interested in shoving meds into their little bodies.
She's not a pill pusher unless it's absolutely necessary.
We love Blue Fish Pediatrics in the Memorial Area. I just had to take my girls to the doctor yesterday for really bad runny noses. Our doctor (Dr Brack) simply said, after a thorough exam, that they had little colds but were otherwise very healthy. She sent us home with no antibiotics but to use the saline drops. My girls are almost 1 now and we have only been sent home with meds twice...one for an ear infection and the other for a skin rash that needed special cream. Other than that she rarely prescribes meds to our kids.
They have a awesome staff, and 4 other doctors to choose from...two are sisters (Dr Brack and Dr Torn)...check out their website to get a better feel of what they are like.
