In Need of a Good Pediatrician

I would love to find a good pediatrician who's answer to everything is let him tough it out. I can understand somethings being like but not as much as she's saying. Our last visit (Thursday) she told me not to give my son milk when he wakes up at night. Her reason? So he won't get used to me serving him at night. She never asked if it bothered me, which it doesn't. I just give him his cup and lay him down and he takes care of the rest. So it's not like I'm up with him for the next two or three hours.

My son has his own style of eating like most of us do. She told me not to offer him more than one thing. If he loses a few pounds then that's fine. My son is already in bottom 15% for his weight. I ask my husband what he wants to eat before I start cooking. My son isn't talking yet so I can't do the same for him.

My son also has a minor skin rash that she insist that I'm doing all the right things with. So why is it still there and when do we get to the point of her doing something?

I've stayed with her so long because she has great reviews. I'm not taking anything away from her because she does seem to know what she's doing. I just prefer someone with a different sytle.

Thanks

Hi M.! Dr. Barbara Taylor-Cox at West Houston off Richmond and Old Westheimer is that type of doctor. I love her!! I had to stop going to her because I live all the way in KATY and my insurance changed and my new insurance does not include her in my plan. My new pediatrician is Dr. Adam Cohen, very young, but also laid back. Dr. Cohen is in Katy, Katy Pediatrics. Good luck!

Both of my children have been going to Dr. Salem at Texas Children's Pediatrics at Memorial Herman Memorial City since they were born and we love her. She is really wonderful with the kids, they actually don't mind going to the doctor. She is also a mother herself and understands more than just the illness/issue that has you there and is always concerned with how I am doing also. And when she is not there, her 2 partners are also very good. Her number is ###-###-####.

Dr. Steven Levy is GREAT! He spends lots of time with you and will work with you on different solutions to your specific situation. He's just relocated at 290 and 610 and his office number is 713/681-5000.
