Need New Pediatrician - 290/Barker Cypress Area

Hi All - We need a new pediatrician - we just aren't thrilled with the one we found. What's hard is that this is the one that EVERYONE has recommended.

They are friendly (except one nurse) and are great to get our son in on quick notice - but it has been me that has pushed everything with my son (I have been the one mentioning his lack of weight gain, etc) and I feel THEY should be noticing this stuff.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

What can I do next?

Dr. Lee Dockray. I went to him as a child, and now both my kids go to him. His phone number is ###-###-####. He is located off of Huffmeister between 290 & HWY 6.

Steeplechase Pediatrics is where I take my daughter. She is a patient of Dr. Herman but I hear all the doctors there are great! They have two locations. 1) off of 1960 not to far from 290 and 2) off of Skinner and Spring Cypress. I found them via Mamasource and I'm very happy with my choice. You can visit their website at...http://www.steeplechasepedi.com/home

Good luck on your search!

I highly suggest Blue Fish Pediatrics!! However you will have to drive to them a bit but its worth the little bit of extra drive. They are located at Memorial Herman Memorial City.

I was once in the elevator getting off at my floor and one of the doctors from the hospital asked me if I was going to Blue Fish. When I told him yes he said all the doctors use them for the childrens doctors...that was a positive reassurance I had selected a great team for my twins!

Also, my pediatrician, Dr Brack looked into my insurance to see if they would provide the RSV shot to my premie twins, all without me knowning of such a thing...and what a nice surprise it was to see that they were eligible. It definitely made me feel my doctor and her nurses were looking out for the best interest of my girls.

I can not say enough great things about them...You should go read their website and get a better feel for their office to see if it is a match for you. We live out near you as well but the little extra time it takes on the freeway to get to their office is worth it to us!

Good luck in your search.

FM 1060 Pediatrics in the Cypress Medical Center is fantastic! Our son chose Dr. Nguyen when we went to interview another pedi in the practice. None of us liked him a lot- we like someone very open & informative; he had more of a quiet, reserved disposition. As we were leaving, we saw Dr. Nguyen & we all talked to her briefly and loved her. We've been seeing her ever since! We have had to see other docs in the practice at different times due to scheduling when we needed to get out son in quick, and they've all been great!

Best of luck in finding a pedi you like. I know it can be tough.

Have you tried Texas Children's Hospital? Dr. Kavin is good and very nice, plus you can call there 24 hour line to speak with an on call physician if you need to.

They have been treating my kids for the last 18 yrs. My youngest is going into high school next year. I have seen Dr Rahman, Dr Herman & Dr Garza. (They also live in the area) & I found out my Opthamologist is Dr Rahman's daughter! They have added other drs. & are very easy to get in to see. They have done things like have winter weekend hrs. (One yr when lots of kids were sick they opened on Sundays.) My 2nd had a horrible asthma attack & & Dr Garza met me at the hospital right away. As a working mom I always appreciated being able to get in on Sat for well child check ups.
Our insurance has changed many times over the years. At one point it was switched to one that pretty much only allowed us to go to Kelsey Seybold. I tried that for 1 yr when my youngest was 6 months old - big problems. We went back to Dr Rahman without insurance for a couple yrs then the insurance changed back again.(yea!)

Kesley Seybold Clinic Dr. Kara Carter ###-###-####. We have used the other doctors at the clinic but love the attention she gives our son. After each visit she gives us a printed report of what we discussed and any action items. She also shows me my sons growth in all areas each time and we discuss any issues. Very carrying doctor. She just had her second baby so she knows what moms want.

The other doctors in the clinic are nice but when we had to use them I just felt like we didn't get the same attention.

You can call and setup an appointment to meet the doctor - interview her for the position. That is what we did.

Good luck.
