So What Happened?

my son adjusted to the formula although we switched from alimentum to nutramagen which was not as smelly and he did well. there is still the harder stools which we are dealing with and now going to try prune juice to help him. thank you to all who responded it helps so much to know that others have the same issues and they are not the end of the world.

Hi Therea. Actually, my son was put on Similac w/ Iron from the hosptial. They reccommend it there, we agreed and didn't have in problems. If your nervous, you should talk to your ped. for your worries before you start. Best Wishes, T.

my son is on nutramigen. My first son was on it too and when my second was born and had the same probs with the regular formula, we immediately went out and got the nutramigen. Yes, its expensive but I buy it on ebay for much cheaper.

Also, having the baby bjorn really helped because my baby was upright and not crying all the time. The baby bjorn really saved me. I wish I had it with my first son, but we had the cheapo one which was extremely difficult to put on. I saw someone with the bjorn and she showed us how it worked.

Hello T.,
We are on Neocate. We tried the "hypoallergenic" store varieties, wich still have the protiens, they are just broken down, but almost instantly went back to spitting up rash and diarrhea. The Neocate works well for us. What formula are you guys on and for what ailment?

I BREAST FED MY SON FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS WHERE I WAS ABLE TO TAKE HIM TO WORK WITH ME THEN I COULDNT PUMP ENOUGH SO I SUPPLEMENTED WITH FORMULA .I WAS TOLD THAT THE HYPOALLERGENIC FORMULAS WOULD BE BETTER FOR MY SONS STOMACH AND IMMUNE SYSTEM AND KEEP HIM FROM SPITTING UP.WRROONNNGGG!!!!! HE DIDNT JUST SPIT UP HE THREW UP LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A HORROR MOVIE.HE WAS IN MAJOR PAIN ALSO ,IT GAVE HIM MORE GAS AND VERY PAINFUL CRAMPS.I WOULD TALK TO YOUR PEDIATRICIAN TO SEE WHATS BEST FOR YOUR BABY. WHEN NOT BREAST FEEDING I SUPPLEMENTED WITH INFAMIL BUT NOT THE HYPOALLERGENIC KIND I THINK WE SETTLED WITH THE KIND THAT HAD DHA AND RHA, LIPIL? ITS SUPPOSED TO BE THE CLOSEST THING TO BREAST MILK YOU CAN FIND IN A FORMULA. HOPE THIS HELPS! ALSO IF HES OLDER THAN THREE MONTHS GIVE HIM SOME FRUITS AND VEGETABLES OR RICE CEREAL, THIS IS WHAT MY PEDIATRICIAN SUGGESTED . MY SON STARTED TEETHING AT ABOUT 3TO 4 MONTHS AND HAD HIS FIRST TWO TEETH AT ABOUT 5 OR 6 MONTHS SO HE WAS ONLY BREAST FED ABOUT 8 MONTHS , BY A YEAR HE HAD A FULL HEAD OF TEETH WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTINUE BREASTFEEDING (HE BITES !)ITS DIFFERENT FOR EVERY CHILD THIS WAS OUR EXPERIANCE.

My daughter was on Nutramigen, she had severe reflux and was sensitive to soy and regular milk formulas. It smells nasty, tastes nasty (to adults, she ate it fine though) but once she got older (9+ months) and was drinking more she ended up eating upwards of 60 oz a day so I tried Enfamil Lipil again and she did wonderfully on it.

It is expensive but WIC paid for it because of her Reflux.
