Husband's Birthday on the Road

We will be travelling for our daughter's dance competition on my husband's birthday. I'd like to have a little something for him (even though we'll be driving for about 5 hours) on his birthday. I am planning on making cupcakes and bringing them with us to the hotel. My parents are joining us so I can have them bring them and make it a surprise.

Any other ideas for a birthday on the road?

What can I do next?

We were away on my husband's birthday too. When he went into the bathroom my daughters and I decorated the room with the somewhat tacky Happy Birthday signs you get at party city. I also bought him a big birthday hat. It was very funny.

If your parents are coming too, they can watch your daughter while you and hubby go out for a birthday dinner in the town you are visiting, and that will make it more special.

Why not call the hotel to see if they have any ideas? Someone there might know of a local activity he's really enjoy, or good family restaurant...

You are so nice for making sure he feels remembered on his special day in the midst of your daughter's competition! : )

Dinner out together as a family, since your parents will be there, too?

I think the cupcakes ON his exact day, but I tend not to stand on birthday ceremony....I'd probably plan something official for when we're home.

- Reservations for lunch or dinner somewhere when you arrive? I remember my mom doing this for my dad once. His birthday fell during an out-of-town volleyball tournament. She made reservations at a local chain restaurant and invited some of the other families to join them. It was a blast!
- Gifts and cards
- Depending on your relationship with the dance team, you could have them make a poster or banner and have it hanging at the competition

Well, ask Kayla, Rachel!! She did a GREAT job in surprising you!! She might have some great ideas to surprise Jeff too!!!

Where will you be for his birthday? For Bob - it would be having dinner together as a family. I don't know Jeff and what he likes. He might want to be able to sleep since he drives so much every day!! :)

Bring some things to decorate the room (happy birthday banner, balloons,
streamers, homemade sign).

Bring the cupcakes

Leave a card for him once you get to the hotel on this pillow

Bring a few little gifts for him

Buy some inexpensive fun hand towels in his favorite color & sew on a
happy birthday sign (buy @ fabric store) then leave on counter of bathroom for him

Bring lottery tickets to leave in a few diff places in the hotel room

Bring his favorite soda, beer (whatever he drinks) in a cooler

Plan ahead to make sure you go to a restaurant wherever you are that serves his favorite food (ex. ribs or what have you), bring some fun napkins to have at breakfast (whether it be at a restaurant or the for the
free breakfast that some hotels offer)

bring a candle to light w/his dinner

take his favorite items to surprise him with: donuts, his fave sweats, blanket or throw he likes, a box of chocolates he enjoys, cut out his horoscope, confetti for the hotel desk.

Bring some gifts for him to open there

Buy pre-wrapped fortune cookies for him to have throughout the trip

Bring his favorite anything: coffee etc.

Happy birthday to him! :)

Is there anyway to have a little bit of decoration in the room when you arrive? Or have an edible arrangement delivered to the hotel so it is presented to hubby at check-in.
