Ok, so my little one is just 2 1/2 - it's been awhile since I went to college...My cousin is graduating and I am trying to come up with some cool ideas to put in a gift basket for her....she's going to be living on campus...

Here's what I've come up with:

put everything IN a laundry basket:
Detergent
Fabric Softener
Stain Stick/Spray
Mesh Bag
Roll of quarters...

Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, FLIP FLOPS for shower, towel

also thought about:
small iron (does anyone still use these? LOL)
stamps w/ note cards/envelopes
RAMEN & Mac N CHEESE!
Small first aid kit

any other ideas would be GREATLY appreciated! THANKS!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I added everything I could think of to a laundry basket. Everything she would need to do laundry, take a shower and clean her dorm room. I also added two fun little books like 1000 things every freshman needs to know...and how to avoid the freshman 15! I gave her towels, a little caddy to hold her shower things, flip flops...and even a measuring cup (or shot glass as she put it) and visine - for after those late nites! SHE LOVED IT! She said that everytime she uses something she'll think of me :)

We do the same thing for all HS grads in our family. We use a small laundry basket and put tons of random stuff in in. Paper towels, plastic bowls, plates, forks, knives, spoons (although we always just used stolen stuff from the cafeteria). A small tool kit is a rare find and always useful. Popcorn, ramen noodles, PB&J, pudding cups, crackers, ice tea or lemonade mix. Measuring cups & spoons are great - especially if the dorm has a kitchen somewhere. A pitcher & cups. Stapler, staple remover, paper clips, scotch tape, masking tape. A container to carry stuff to the shower. Laundry bag, roll of quarters, laundry soap. Tylenol, Benedryl, cough drops, contact solution (if they use it), bandaids, deodorant. Cleaning supplies, broom, swifer dusters. My mind is drawing a blank right now on everything else. Gift cards (Visa, Wawa, other local grocery stores) are also a great idea.

how about a couple of towels or wash cloths that she will need for the shower. And a couple of cups/plates/bowls that she can use in the micro....

all this stuff can really add up...and might be a difficult to store or take to school...how about an master card gift card or grocery store card with a note to help her order stuff on line the week before she goes to school and have it delivered to her dorm?? Just a thought...
