How to Use Facebook- Wondering About Friending a Co-worker and Who Else Can See

I try to keep my circle of fb friends small, mosly so i don't waste too much time and mostly because i'm private and don't need everyone seeing my kids at teh zoo-- what have you.

So Sandy that i work with wants to friend me. I'm ok wiht sandy but i don't know that our other coworker Monica is someone that i want seeing my posts, pictures or other friends. Sandy and Monica are already friends.

If i friend Sandy then monica can't see my stuff unless i friend her, ....BUT
if Sandy comments on my posts can Monica see that??
Or if I comment on Sandy's wall Can monica see that??

I hope i'm asking that clearly and if there is a way to set up my privacy settings to completely keep Monica out of it if you could explain it i would appreiate it.

I"m thinking that it might just be better to say i do'nt friend co-workers.

What can I do next?

I never friend co-workers while we're working together. It's just my policy.

There should be a way you can block Monica, so she can't see what you write. But you would be safest not to friend a co-worker.

YES, Monica will be able to see your comments on Sandy's wall.

There is no way to keep Monica from seeing your comments IF you're commenting on a "shared" friend's wall.

You may be better off just not "friending" anyone at work. I totally get where you're coming from - I only use Facebook to keep in touch with my family that lives a few hours away. And I'm very cautious even with them!!

All my settings are to "Friends ONLY."

You don't say how good a friend she is, but If Sandy asks why you don't want to "friend" her, I would just simply say you're only friends with family.

Good luck!!

I don't tend to friend co-workers...I do have one at the moment.

Sandy shouldn't see if M comments on your stuff unless your friends. S can see if you comment on Ms wall or post.

I would go with no co-workers if you are worried about it.

Create one just for co-workers? Or create a Linkedin page that you direct co-workers to?

i would just say i don't friend co-workers lol. keep it simple. i'm one of those with few friends, as well.

as a supervisor i have a couple friends who have been there forever and have moved up the rungs also. but no one i supervise.

i have seen comments from people who i am not friends with, because they commented on someone's page who IS my friend. so i don't think anything is fool proof. although i do have all my settings set at "friends only". better safe than sorry imo.

i always worry about that too....although i am careful as i can be.

If you have your settings set for friends only the other people cannot see your information unless they are friends.

If "I" comment on a post "you" made then anyone who is friends with "you" can see what I wrote. If you write on a post that "I" made then anyone "I" am friends with can see my post and all the comment made on it including yours.

I don't friend co-workers. Period. No exceptions.
When I had to network on facebook for my old job (we were "strongly encouraged") I created a separate profile just for that purpose.

Good luck!

I suppose the simplest thing to do is just tell Sandy you don't friend coworkers, it's nothing personal, you just like to keep your private life separate from work. And you probably want check your privacy settings, there are many controls that you can put in place, such as who can see photos? friends only, friends of friends, etc. Make sure you've got that set up the way you want it.
