Hello moms, my baby is 10 months & Im still not getting any sleep at night. She tosses & turns & cries in her sleep all night long. I am literally getting three hours of sleep, having to get up at 5am in the mornings. She has a hot bat, warm bottle and is dressed comfortablt. She has no fever and is healthy. This is not normal I know. I mean she is asleep, but crying and tossing all night. What to do?

What can I do next?

When my daughter started to learn to rollover, or crawl/wiggle, she had a harder time sleeping at night and will take up. But once she mastered that particular skill, she went back to her normal self and sleep thru the night no problem. And that's what I learned as well, that they may not be sleeping as soundly when they are hitting some physical milestone.

How long has this gone on? I would suggest looking at her diet....something she's eating could be bothering her tummy and causing discomfort while sleeping. We're battling this same issue right now too. My little has a milk/soy intolerance and tends to have trouble getting bowel movements out (too much info-sorry). Hope you find a solution soon.

I tried to get mine to eat something right before bed and they seem to sleep longer.

Have you considered that she might have allergies to the formula (I'm assuming that's what's in the bottle)? Or she might be allergic to some other food that she's eating that is causing her GI distress at night. Also, you don't mention whether you work or not. If you do work, she could just be missing seeing you and you might get more sleep if you bring her into bed with you. As far as whether this behavior is normal or not, every baby is different and many do have these issues I mention (both mine did) and can have difficulties sleeping at nite. For me, bringing them into bed helped all of us get a better night's sleep. You also don't mention what time you put her to bed or whether this problem has been ongoing since she was an infant. If it's just recently, then it could be she's nearing a developmental milestone. Also, you don't mention anything about her daytime situation - if there's been a change in that, this can also make for a stressful nite for baby.

With the tossing and turning, she could be hitting her head and extremities on the crib. Both my children did that and it took them a bit of time to figure out the boundaries of their rolling around room. Have you tried using soft music in her room..around here I am able to get 94.0 KLTY so I know it will be safe music for them to listen to. She could be teething as well or has GI distress as mentioned before. One more thing, does she have sinus problems? Laying down may be causing her to become congested. I would suggest lifting up the mattress on one end but my kids never did like that so we called our pedi and gave them allergy medicine at night.

Praying for you.
