HELP! Circo Valboa Brown/multi Dots Blanket!

I am in serious need of HELP. Blankie is slowly dying and Target discontinued the color :(. I have poured over the internet for the last year and I'm still finding nothing... Any mom's out there have a Circo Valboa blanket in brown / multi dots with a purple back? I've tried replacing with a new color but that was horrible and I can't even show my DD the "other" blankie. I'm seriously at my wits end and as stupid as it sounds I'm terrified of eventually losing this blanket. Anyone out there with one I could buy??

What can I do next?

You can do an "item wanted" on ebay. That way everyone sees it in the list and they may be like "HEY, I have one of those!" and contact you!

I had this problem with my first daughter...she fell in love with an old blanket of mine (that I had bought about six years before she was born) and that turned into her blanket. Over the first three years of her life, it slowly unraveled bit by bit until one day she decided to "fix" it by cutting a few loose strings, and then the whole thing came apart.

I felt so bad for her...I mean it, really terrible. We drove to the nearest large city and went EVERYWHERE looking for a similar feeling blanket, to no avail...so I finally told her she could pick any, any blanket she wanted.

The old blanket was navy and brown plaid, double knit, super comfy, warm, etc.

New blanket was brown and a very dark maroon, fleur de lac? print (or something...looks like a very old fashioned carpet or curtains) and was a very strange material...also, fancy tassels, and looks like a shawl from the 1800s or something. Super ugly, but she just adored it. She still wraps up in it, sleeps with it, etc, and now it is three years old.

I guess my point in this rambling story is that even if the blanket is destroyed, you CAN find them a replacement...just take them shopping to pick it out. I'd also suggest not going for a character/child's print, which is easily outgrown, but something they just love the color and feel of.

I know how you feel. :)

I remember my blankie when I was younger. It was white, and had a pattern of mallard ducks flying diagnally on it. I loved that stupid blanket. Unfortunately, I had one of the older brothers that loved to destroy my belongings. Over the course of a few years, Blankie pretty much got shredded until I only had a piece about 1 foot square. I couldn't stand to be separated... I would even sit/sleep in front of the washer when it was being washed. When my dad tried to replace it, I didn't sleep for more than 15 minutes at a time for 3 days, until he gave in and gave it back. He finally took it to my grandma, who sewed it into a new blanket. I got to pick out the fabric for the new one, and she sewed the old one right in the middle. I still have that one somewhere. Maybe something like this would be an option?

DO a search on ebay to find a replacement. You can set it up to notify you when something matching your description comes in. I have a similar issue - my daughter LOVES only one of her many blankets (which she calls "beebahs")- it's by carters and has pink bunnies and is discontinued - she calls it the soft beebah. I found a replacement on Ebay and am still watching for a third. All h**l breaks lose in our house if she can't find soft beebah. SHe doesn't know we have two - I keep one hidden away and break it out only when something happens to the other (she can't even part with it for laundry).

Good luck!

Good luck

I fear this happening, when my son's blanket bites the dust! Have you thought of taking your DD to the store, to pick out a brand new "special" blanket? You could even take it with and get it embroidered.

What Red said made me remember a cute book my children have. It's called "Geraldine's Blanket". It's a story a bout a little girl (pig) who loves her blanket, but it's falling apart. It keeps getting smaller and smaller, but she doesn't want to give it up. Anyway, in the end, she gets a doll for a gift and the blanket gets made into a dress for the doll. If all else fails, maybe she'd find some comfort in having it made into something else? She might like the story too. Your library may have it too. Good luck !!! :)

hmm. How about getting a "new" blanket (not a similar look-alike, something NEW), and carefully and thoroughly stitching the old favorite blankie onto it - you'll have a new backing, more protection for the one that is wearing out, and hopefully some of the love that she has given the old blanket will be absorbed by the new one.

Or - take it to a professional seamstress and ask what can be done to protect what is left of it.

I don't have O.. Not sure if you could find O....BUT wanted to mention that if you do, it might not be the easy switcheroo you think it will be. My son had a stuffed bug that was his lovey. After a 2 day MIA bug incident, I located O. on eBay and bought it. Was he fooled? Nope. Then we had Old Bug and New Bug and really only Old Bug would do.

I vote to preserve it the best you can. 5 will get you 20, that she won't want the "new" O. even if you do find the same exact thing. It won't be "the same"!

Yes, time to trade it in for a big girl blanket. This is a great way to teach and learn resiliency...for the both of you! You may be surprised to learn how quickly and easily she adapts to the new blanket.

I know it has been some time since you posed the question. I have a brandnew Circo Baby Blanket - multi-color (brown with pink, green and cream polka dots) with a pink back. It is still wrapped with the bow and tag. I will sell. It has been sitting on the shelf of my child's nursery (immaculate, smoke-free home).

Contact the company, most companies have backstock that they have discontinued just for this reason. A lot of times they will just charge you for the item and pay for shipping and other times they will send it completely free.

If the company does not have one try e-bay or craigslist.
