Ouch, tooth pain is the worst. He could try clove oil to help relieve some of the pain. It has natural antibacterial and anesthetic properties and is known to be helpful with toothaches but if your husband has an abscess, he really needs to go to a dentist to be effectively treated. If the infection continues, he risks losing the tooth, the infection can spread to his gums and even possibly into his sinus cavity. Considering your financial situation, you should definitely see if you can find a dentist (or maybe even an emergency dental clinic) that can offer a payment plan. I hope you find one. http://topical-herbal-medicine.suite101.com/article.cfm/h...

Is there a dental college near you they have very low cost clinic times under the supervision of a professor/actual dentist? However get the clove oil in there asap. Good Luck!

An abcess is a pocket of puss that has toxins/poisons in it. If it bursts it can go into his blood stream. He needs antibiotics and he needs to get the tooth taken care of.
I just had an abcessed tooth and all I did was rub my finger over the gum and it popped in my mouth (YUCKY). I had to go into the dentist and have them check it out, turns out I didn't need a root canal or anything, I just needed antibiotics ($47.00 for an x-ray and antibiotics).
You never know how much it's going to cost until you go there. Try to find a clinic that offers help to low income families. Our county hospital has a dental clinic and they don't require any money up front. Start doing research, and get it taken care of ASAP! Good Luck!

Try a dental college or clinic in your area that will charge on a sliding scale.
They might even be able to give you samples of antibiotics to help clear up the infection.
Cloves and clove oil are somewhat helpful.
I cracked a tooth and was in a lot of pain until I could get to the dentist.
I swooshed with whiskey and let it soak on my tooth as long as I could stand it then spit it out. It really does help numb you up.

I wish you the best because toothaches are the worst! And they can make you really sick too.

Good luck!
