If you have a tooth or gum infection it can infect your bloodstream if it gets bad enough and you do not want to be pregnant with a blood infection.

Let the dentist deal with this but don't just wait and try to treat yourself. Good luck.

Talk to your dentist. Mine assured me that they wouldn't let me suffer during my pregnancy.

Do not try and treat this with some "natural" remedy - go see your dentist to see if this needs to be treated now or can wait until after the baby is born. Dr. Oz isn't going to be there to pay for your root canal and crown because you waited too long by treating your pain with garlic.

Man! I just posted something about teeth and being pregnant. Anyway, why not go to the dentist or call him/her? Let me tell you, a toothache is a special kind of agony. Just go to the dentist because usually when you're in that much pain there's an infection brewing. Once you're on a course of antibiotics the pain subsides, but you do have to address it or else it will come back.

Go to the dentist. There is no reason to not go when pregnant. You just don't need to do x-rays.

My next guess would be either rinsing with peroxide/water or baking soda. Maybe drinking something warm? I wouldn't aggravate it too much though.. If it doesn't get better though, I would call your dentist!

I've heard clove oil (a drop or 2 on the sore tooth) can work and I know some people that swear by it for temporary relief - but like others have said, if it's not helping, go see your dentist.

What odd timing! I just saw the end of Dr. Oz and he talked about a natural aid for tooth pain. You put salt on a clove of garlic and bite down on it on the painful tooth. I would go to his site for the specifics on how/why this works. May be worth a shot.

I would say if that doesn't work, to call the dentist. He/she would know what is safe to take right now for the pain.

I chipped a tooth while pregnant with my first. I went to a dentist who filed down the sharp edge and said to come back when I wasn't pregnant. I saw a different dentist after I had delivered and she was furious! Because it had been left without a cap or anything, it had created more problems and now required a pretty extensive root canal and a crown. She said that they work on pregnant women all the time. The digital x-rays are far less radiation than they used to expose patients to and the anesthetics are local and process out quickly. (They numb your gums, not your uterus.) Even the pain killers they prescribed we not counter-indicated for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Talk to your dentist. Waiting can cost more money and pain in the long run.

Also, my OB was very much in favor of me seeing a dentist since there are many studies linking poor dental health with pre-term labor.

If you are going to try clove, call your OB first. My OB told me to not use clove, because it's a uterine stimulant.

did u take just regular tylonal because my doctor said it was perfectly fine to take the extra strength tylonall too ... not sure about this one but can u put ambesol on it that stuff always works for a toothache just not sure if u can use it if ur pregnant

I had a tooth that needed a root canal when I was pregnant. I had the dentist check it to make sure it wasn't a raging infection and then treated the pain with Orajel. The Orajel was surprisingly effective, but check with your dentist/doc if you have any questions before using it while pregnant. It was fine for me.

.Just clutch a Bayer aspirin between your teeth and let it dissolve. I've done it before...and it worked!

Listerine in the purple bottle. Brush, floss and use it every time you eat.

In Oklahoma if a pregnant mom needs dental work and is on a state medical card they will pay for some of it. That tells me that it is okay to have some dental work performed while pregnant. Otherwise they would get out of it any way they could...

So I say go see a dentist.

You obviously have a place on the tooth where the dentin is allowing the nerve to be exposed. Whether it is a cavity or something else. Only a dentist can say for sure.

I had this one time and the dentist told me after brushing my teeth to dab a bit of the tooth paste on the spot to help seal it. You might also try using sensodyne toothpaste. If it is exposure the stuff in that would help perhaps.
