hi - my son recently turned one and we have a big problem at night - his diapers leak ! we've tried everything i can think of, switching brands, not feeding him close to bed time, making them tighter. everynight i have to get up three or times to change his diapers, even though he sleeps the whole night through. if i don't , he'll be soaked and so will his pajamas and bed. he only weighs 25 lbs, so he can't wear good nights overnights yet. are there any other brands or anything else i can do so i dont have to wake up and wake him up every night?

What can I do next?

Huggies Overnighters for his size. Then you can change to either Pull Up nighttimes or Goodnights depending on his size.

Huggies Overnites here too. We buy a package of around 60 at Wal-Mart SuperCenter...I want to say it costs about $17, but I could be wrong. We started using those as soon as my daughter started sleeping through the night. Every once in a great while she will leak through, but it takes a good 14 hours of sleep and A LOT of fluids.

Two of my children have been like that and my two year old girl is one of them. I was constanly changing her bed every morning. I buy the huggies goodnights and rarely do we have a leak now, they are great. She weighs 29 pounds so I would give them a try. Of course always make sure the elastic around their legs is not tucked inside the diaper too. hope this helps!!

Three or more times overnight is way over the norm, so my guess is that you are feeding him too much in the late afternoon, evening hours. Cut back on that first. Huggies supreme are the only diapers we have found that don't leak, and we had the same trouble you have, except he would just be wet in the morning...no getting up to change for us. Good luck.

Have you talked to your pediatrician about this, that sounds pretty unusual.

Hello M.,

Is the diaper truly soaked or do you think so because his clothes are getting wet? I am a first-time Mom of a little boy and experienced the same thing. It turns-out that with little boys you need to "tuck" their p.... so that they don't pee up and out their diaper. You might give this a try, it worked for us.

Have you tried using a bigger size of diaper at night? We had to do that with my almost 2 year old daughter. It seemed that at night she would just "let loose". :-) We used a smaller size during the day but at night we went a size bigger. And just a note...if you still have the other diapers that leaked you can call the customer service number and get reemberssed (?). I know that with Pampers they sent me vouchers for the bigger packages, which was great. Anyways...just to get back some of the money spent to fix the leaking problem ya know. Good Luck.

HUGGIES SUPREME! Change him 4 seconds before you put him to bed and the second he wakes up. My son is an all night pottier and that has totally worked for me! (You might also try a pair of rubber pants over the diaper. Even if his jammies still get wet,it will save you the trouble of washing his sheets everyday)

We've always used LUVS and have had great luck with them! Plus there cheaper! I'd try watching how much he's drinking at least 3 hours before bedtime. My daughter ALWAYS has to have a drink and was leaking almost every night so now we cut her completly off at 7pm (bedtime is 8). We watch how much she drinks from about 5pm on till 7. It has helped. Like the other mom said change him before you go to sleep also. Good Luck!

Another person jumping on the huggies overnights bandwagon. My daughter had the same problem, but once we switched, she has not had an accident!

I've been using Huggies Overnights for a couple of months now. He was only 20lbs when I started using them for him & they worked out great.

We used Huggies Overnights one size larger than he normally wears. When things were really bad, we used something called diaper doublers inside the diaper. The only problem is I couldn't find them around here so I needed to order them online.

I can't help you with diapers, but if you go to a medical supply place you can get waterproof pads. Not the blue disposable ones. These are cloth (cotton) and washable. They are white on one side and usually pink or blue on the other. It is so much easier to put a clean on on the bed during the middle of the night diaper change than to change the whole bed. They run about $20 but since you are so early in the game of parenting, you'll get your moneys worth. They last a long time. They use these in the healthcare field. My kids are teenagers and I still use ours when someone in the house is sick with the trashcan next to the bed. I just drape it over the side of the bed in the direction of the can.
Good luck to you.

I haven't actually tried this but I have had a couple of friends who ended up putting 2 diapers on their kids at night. I am guessing the regular size one and then a bigger size over the first one. Good luck!

Hey M.! I have a 2 1/2 year old boy and he used to leak at night also! Sounds like most of your responses use Huggies Overnights...i agree 100%. That's what I used to use at night. They seemed to work really well and I never had any problems with leaking at night any more.

Hi, I had that same problem with my oldest son. When he was younger I did two things, 1 I found that Huggies the regluar kind worked best, and 2 I always changed before I went to bed at night, that seemed to help alittle.

Good Luck,
S.

We double up on cloth diapers at night and never have a leak. It may seem like more laundry, but only if you don't have to wash jammies, sheets, blankets, etc.!

Hey M.,
I had to use LUVS with my son, everything else would leak no matter what time of day it was. We tried Pampers cruisers, and huggies nothing worked.
Other than not giving him a bottle or cup to sleep with, which you aren't supposed to do anyway, the only thing is to change him right before bed. If the different brands don't work you might try to put a pair of plastic cover up pants (the ones for cloth diapers) on him over his diaper at night to contain the leaks, some kids just pee alot at night.
Good luck,
Michelle

Hello,
This may not be exactly what you were looking for but I have been researching cloth diapers and there is a website called diaperdaisy.com and they have a reusable/washable diaper that allows you to put inserts in according to how much your child wets. It may be worth the investment to get a few to wear at night (although they have to be laundered--it sounds like your washing pj's and sheets anyway. Hope this is helpful.

Hi there!

My son has a problem with this as well, has since he was about 9 months old. Our solution is to place a Serenity pad in his night-time diaper. They are bladder control pads for adults, and have an adhesive strip so they stay in place. We almost never have a leak, and he wakes up dry every morning. The pad soaks up most of the urine, and what is left gets soaked up by the diaper. It is a little unconventional, but much better (at least for us) then layering the poor kid with two diapers at once. We have had many months of dry sleep. Hope everything works out for you...I know how miserable it feels to have a soaked kid every morning, makes you feel so bad for them. Take care!

Switch to a larger size. My son was small, but I moved him up in sizes for urine volume, not his size. For a while, I just used the larger size at night, then when he got bigger, I moved him up during the day too.

Good luck!

When that happened with my son, we bought a bigger size for night time, and kept the smaller nice fitting size for the day's. You also might want to start cutting back on how much he gets to drink at a certain time before bedtime. We did 2 hours.
