I am trying to help a friend. I know there are places that do toy drives and stuff but does anyone know of places that will be giving gifts for needy children. Unfortunatly we aren't in the position to help her and her kids. I feel so bad. She is on the lone star card or snap card...not sure what it is called any more. I've contacted The Salvation Army and they weren't of any use. Thanks for any info. We live in the Houston area.

I just realized that this question might not be alowed on here. I'm sorry if that is the case but I'm not asking for anyone's help just organizations or something to help her.

What can I do next?

You can contact her local fire station. They have the Toys for Tots program which helps families in need with gifts for children through age 15. I also recommend radio station KSBJ at 89.3FM. Their Giving Tree program has online enrollment at www.ksbj.org/givingtree

Well I don't know if there is literally no money, but I know lots of things can be purchased at resale shops. Maybe look online for resale shops in your area and see what you come up with. Also the christian radio station KSBJ used to do something called The Giving Tree every year to help needy families, so you might try contacting them to see if you can give the family's info to them. I also know that there is a ministry called Angel Tree that adopts families and then local churches, and even businesses get involved to get whatever is on their "Angel". You can call them at 1-800-55-ANGEL and tell the situation and see if you can register the family with them. I wish you the best and I think it is great that you want to help the family:D

I would call a church or two near her home- a lot of churches have toy drives and angel trees around christmas.
