Has anyone ever done or know someone who has done the HCG diet? I have been reading about it and the results seem amazing. I would like to try it and see if it works.

What can I do next?

I did it, it results were phanominal. I wanted to lose 20 pounds and lost 30. I gained 15 but that's probably more of where I should be naturally. I also haven't followed after as far as all organic and no eating fast food, etc. You have to really, really be strick and you can't cheat or you will gain weight. I'm a cheater and had no problems sticking to it on the diet, after the first week, it was great - haha. Have you bought the book, I would suggest it, it's an easy read and really makes a lot of sense. You have to first undestand why you gain before you can lose it and keep it off. If you want more info on the diet, let me know, I have recipes and such that I used. I can also let you know where I've ordered it from as it can be confusing. Oh, my mom and sil are on it and have lost A LOT of weight.

I was talking with a friend yesterday about this product - I don't like the looks of it after seeing their website. And my friend was struggling too because she was so hungry. Restricting yourself down to 400-500 calories? Wow - that's intense and she said she's having to do this for 40 days straight. I am doing a program called Advocare (and yes I am a distributor for them) - it's a nutritional based vitamins that helps your body in a healthier way to loose the weight and you get to EAT. I have lost over 30lbs with the program. The only time you have any restrictions is during the body cleanse and that's for 10 days. I couldn't imagine being restricted for 40 days.

I have also considered this diet. I know of one lady who lost a lot of weight with it but then gained it all back as soon as she stopped the program. My BIL also did the diet and lost something like 30 or 40 pounds. I can tell he has put some of it back on but not all. He's been off of it for about six months now.

I'm a little skeptical; from what I've heard/read you can only eat 400-500 calories a day, so of course you'll lose weight without even using their supplements or pills. I just don't see how you can keep from gaining weight again once you start eating more than that. It also seems overpriced to me.

In order to do this diet you must restrict your caloric intake to below 500 a day! Of course you will lose weight if you are only eating 500 calories a day! The claim is basically that the hormone keeps your body from going into starvation mode and eating its own muscles as it would do it you were normally only eating that much. If you try it, be careful, our bodies need fuel to work properly. Also, like most highly restrictive diets, once you are off of it you are very likely to regain the weight. If you want to lose weight, the best way is to limit your calories down to around 1200 a day (depending on height ect..), and get active, and do it all in a way you can learn to maintain for a lifetime. What really helps me is writing down what I eat, so I am accountable for it all and can see how the calories add up. As for the HCG, yes, if you do it you will lose weight, but if you only eat 500 cal a day you will lose it anyway, and more than likely gain it back since it would be impossible to maintain long term.
