We usually stay in Destin, but we are having troubles finding a house that suits everyone in Destin that isnt already booked for the summer.
We found a house in Panama City Beach that would work, but I havent been then since I have had kids, so I wasnt real picky back then.
I have heard it has gotten a lot nicer since then.
Have you been lately and how did you like it for a family vacation?
My hubby used to go every year for softball (one of the best things we fought about!). He said it was gorgeous there though...granted he went with a bunch of people who wanted to play ball at day and party like crazy at night (he doesn't drink), but he still said it was nice. We'd go for a vacation...I think!!
I went a couple of years ago and my family and I always stay at Ciboney. Not sure how large your family is but Ciboney condos can fit a bunch of ppl. PLUS (and the only thing I find important when staying in Destin) it is RIGHT across the street from the beach/beach access point. Very affordable, very nice, good restaurants and fun shopping near by.
Both my sisters and their entire families and my mom and brother went to Destin this year (stayed at Ciboney) and loved it!

Went went at the end of July/beginning of August. It was really fun, and very clean. We enjoyed everything we did. Shell Island, and Gulf World Marine Park was my son's favorite. (If you go to the marine park, don't eat at the diner right next to it. Yuck!) If I were you, I'd find out when spring break is. You do NOT want to go when it's spring break time. I was told by our family (they actually love there) that spring break is pure insanity. When we were there, it was almost entirely families.
