Hair Salon or Do It Myself?

IMHO, it's worth it to go to a salon. I had blond hair and tried to go dark blonde (ash) once and it turned green. There was nothing I or a salon could do to fix it. I will never do it myself again. I know a lot of people must do it themselves but I don't know one person in real life.

Please...Please go to a Salon!!! Not saying you don't know what you are doing but they can match color and do a change gradually...I have had blonde highlights myself. I just went darker myself so it was a more natural look but still added life to my hair and face. I went to my salon and used my colorist. Glad that she helped me make the change. Good luck!

I always do it myself. I agree, color doesn't always come out the way that you want it, but then you just do it over again. That's what I did. I also went from very blonde (I've been a blonde for about 15 years) to dark ash blonde and the hair came out with a shade of blue to it. So I went and got another color a little darker then before and it came out right.
I've been coloring my hair for over 15 years and I have always done it by myself and the color looks great.
I actually have a friend who's a stylist, gets her hair done at her own salon and her hair looks way too bleached out and damaged.

im going to tell you a few things as i am a hair professional. first, good color NEVER comes out of a box. ever. second, if youre blonde your hair is porus and needs to have the pigment that has been lifed out put back in. every level of hair has a natural remaning pigment. if this is not put back properly your hair will turn out gray or green. not pretty. trust a professional with your hair. try pure salon in cary. and ask for someone who has alot of color experience. not everyone is equal. it may mean you have to wait a week or two, but it will make all the differnce.
