Ground Cover for an Above Ground Pool

We purchased a 13' pool and want too place it in an area of our yard that has gravel. We are unable to push most of the gravel out of the way and the tarp will not be thick enough to cover the ground underneath with out feeling every bump.

We were thinking about getting a carpet remnant or something to put underneath the pool for padding. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to put down to cover the area and were to get it?

What can I do next?

We have sand underneath our pool. You will probably want to be very careful if you put carpet down because you don't want the bottom to be soft, otherwise it could rip very easily and then you will just have 20,000 gallons of wasted water all over your yard and a useless pool. If I were you, I would contact a pool installer to just see if they have some tips or tricks for you.

Like some of the other ladies suggested, sand, and a good amount of it. You don't want any rocks poking holes through your pool! Have a cool summer in your new pool:)

We use those 2'X2' foam interlocking mats. There are two kinds primary colored ones designed for kids and black ones designed for the garage. They are pretty thick and really help out. It is not going to be super cheap though.
