We are considering adopting our next child and would like a suggestion on a good adoption agency around here. If you have any advice or your own adoption experience to share, I would love that!

Thank you for your time.

I would highly recommend two agencies depending on what type of adoption you are considering.

I personally have two adopted children from Korea through Dillon Southwest (www.dillonsouthwest.org), a local agency based in Scottsdale. They made the process incredibly easy and a very enjoyable experience. Plus, we didn't have a long wait (it was about 7 months from when we went to our first meeting to when our children came home).

I'd be happy to talk to you more about my experience if you'd like sometime.

I also have heard incredible things about Christian Family Care Agency - also a local agency - in Phoenix (www.cfcare.org). They deal primarily with domestic adoptions I think.

It depends on what country you are considering. We have a bio daughter and a son adopted from Russia. I can absolutely recommend our agency - European Adoption Consultants. The other two we highly considered are IAG and Frank. Both have great reputations. None of these are local. If you are considering international adoption, there is no need or benefit in choosing a local agency. It's all about an agency's contacts and reputation on the country you want. Many countries have specific requirements and only certain agencies are authorized to work in certain countries.

We used a local agency - Oasis Adoption Services - for our homestudy, US re-adoption, and post-placement reports. They are great and would be a good starting point. They provide a lot of different adoption-related services and I believe they handle domestic adoptions. All the best!

We adopted our daughter through the Family Service Agency. Their website is http://www.fsaphoenix.org/. My husband and I had a wonderful experience working with them. It took only ten months from the time we started our classes until we brought home our beautiful baby girl. Barbara is the adoptive parent counselor and she is just wonderful and made everything go very smooth. Our daughter was born right here in phoenix, we felt strongly about finding a child from the US, there are some many kids right here that need a good home. Good luck if you would like to talk about it please e-mail me at ____@____.com and we can set up a conversation, or just call the agency and speak to Barbara she will answer any questions for you.

If you're looking into domestic adoption, my husband and I just adopted twin girls through Building Arizona Families. I think the process from homestudy to placement took 9 months (length of a pregnancy) and we are blessed with two beautiful healthy girls. Another option is Catholic Social Services. Also, next time you visit your ob/gyn ask them, they should have a list of adoption agencies. Good luck!
