It's my nephew's birthday and he likes policemen and firemen. I think he may already have costumes, so I'm stumped on what else to get him? We don't have any other ideas for gifts he'd like.

Thanks Mamas!

So What Happened?

Thanks all!

I loved the idea of the t shirts that weren't costumes! And I checked out the other ideas too.

My husband went to Toys R Us and picked out some cure things. We did stick with the policeman/fireman theme. So thank you for so many ideas!

Matchbox has a great popup fireman playset. It folds into a narrow carry case & can link to other matchbox sets.

here's a link in amazon, but I've gotten them for less at other stores.

I'm sure Leggos must have a fireman kit. Or just go to a toy store. These themes are popular. Fire trucks, puzzles, etc.. Go see what they have!

How about books? My son LOVES firetrucks right now, so he's got a couple of books (Paul the Police Car and Felix the Fire Engine). He's 2, so they're probably a bit younger than what your nephew would enjoy, but I would go that route. See what you can find for him to enjoy around bedtime and naptime.

This is a free idea, but call his local fire station and arrange for him to take a tour. Fire fighters will gladly give him a tour (my dad did this for our son at a couple of different stations and they were always glad to show him around). One station even gave our son a ride around their lot in the fire engine. That was four years ago when he was three and he still remembers it.

My son is all but OBSESSED with anything that has to do with police officers(and garbage trucks for that matter), and likes firemen as well. He always wants to wear his police uniform to day care, but can't because its a costume. I found these online:

My son has the police shirt, and i can barely peel it off of him to wash it! He can wear it to school because technically it isn't a costume, and when police officer sees him in it, he always gets a high five, which is an added bonus!!! Hope that helps :)
oh, and have you tried amazon? I just put in "police car" in the search and all kinds of things usually come up

You know those little tykes cars. The yellow and orange ones? You use your feet to make them go. Gosh I can't think of what they are called. Anyway, they make a police and firemen one. They both have sirens. We got our nephew one at about that age and he loved it. That might be a fun idea. Then he could dress up and go catch the bad guys! I don't know what your looking to spend but I want to say they are about $80.00.

Whatever you decide will be perfect!

What about a set of walkie-talkies? I would get some of the two-way radios since they are more durable. You'd be surprised at how much use the whole family can get out of them!

If I'm working in the basement and the kids are up in their rooms, I give them a radio and if they need me, they can just call rather than bellowing from their rooms. We also take them on vacation with us.

We have the Motorola TalkAbout brand. They have a two mile radius and are really durable.

Hope this helps!

Rescue Heroes action figures! They're great for kids that age, non-violent figures, that are larger than most action figures and represent all kinds of first responder-types. I just got a box of hand-me-down toys filled with them and passed them on to a friend's son who has gone crazy for them.

My son LOVED firetrucks at this age. Anything firetruck related he was thrilled with. Fireman style rain boots are cute and practical. Get them on the big side and he'll grow into them. There are some fire truck Lego kits, but the regular size Legos are still a choking hazard for a 3 yr old. Do a search on Amazon for Fire truck DVDs and you'll find a lot which will be perfect for your nephew.
