Has anyone ever done a birthday party at the firestation? It seems like I have heard of people doing this, letting the kids climb on the firetruck, etc. Or do you have any cool ideas for a 4 yr. old boy's birthday...on a budget. Seems like the pizza places, etc. are a little more than we want to spend on a party. thanks!

I did a birthday party at a firestation in Plano. It was really great. The firemen showed us all around the station. They let them get in the ambulance, showed them the fire truck and gave them lots of information. They were winding up the whole thing and then got a call, so the firemen loaded up in the truck and drove off. The kids were so excited and I couldn't have timed it any better. They did not charge me anything, but, you have to schedule it. Good luck.

We did the Flower Mound firestation and it was great!! The guys there gave us a great tour and showed the kids everything! They have a large room there for you to have the party in and you just have to leave it as it was when you arrived. We loved it and so did all the kids!!

I am right here with you, if you find anything fun let me know. I am trying to figure out a fun place in Lewisville area. I wonder if going bonkers has opened yet. There prices don't look to expensive, $9.95 a child.

This may sound cheap, but my 3 year old and the 4 year old kids in his room had a blast. I arranged a “Day Care” party with my son’s teacher in his classroom. That is where the majority of his friends are and here is what I did:

1.Took him to the 99 Cent Store and let him pick out all of his party favors… they have “Cars”, “Aquarium” (Nemo-Like) and some other great themes.
2.I ordered 1 dozen cupcakes from Wal-Mat with the frosting on the side
3.I came home and divided the frosting up into five dishes and added food color to make them green, red, blue, pink and purple.
4.Picked up some large Popsicle sticks (for frosting) and a jug of Hawaiian Punch.

My husband and I went to the school at 2:30 after naptime and set everything out… we had placemats, napkins, cups, party bags, horns & whistles and the kids frosted their own cupcake. It was a BLAST! We did everything for about $35.00 and 1 ½ hours off of work.

Good Luck!

We did my son's 4th birthday at the Flower Mound Fire Station and it was FREE!!!! We had to leave a $100 deposit, but they returned the check as long as the room was cleaned up. The kids got to climb on the firetrucks...mom/dad or the fireman can get dressed into the full fireman gear. They gave us a tour...it was great. Best of all, we got to go home to a CLEAN house!
My son wants to have his party there again this year, but I may look into the Cabelas thing that someone posted - that looks fun too.

Cabela's has a party room. You get food to feed the fish and tokens for the shooting range. Not sure how much it cost, but I can't imagine it costing too much!

We lived in Little Elm last year when my son had his fire truck party. We had them come to our home. FYI, I did not pay for them to come because they told me that is what my taxes pay for. The kids loved it!! I had them make graham cracker fire trucks with lickerish oreos and icing. I had really cute fire truck invites which I printed off the computer and wrote something cute on it. The firemen gave out a few hats to the kids, but I bought some off a catolog along with stickers and tatoos. It didn't cost much. We printed off coloring pages of fire trucks. Email me if you need info. I am in a rush because my son wants back on the computer. I am glad we did it. My son was in an accident 3 months after. And the firemen where the first ones on the scene and took extra care of him. He was careflighted to Children's and they called and checked up on him afterwards. Those firemen where amazing!! GoodLuck with your party.

We're also on a budget, so I was checking out the Dallas Zoo, and the Fort Worth Zoo for party ideas....Keep in mind though, that while the options there may seem a little "pricey", the cost of taking care of the animals has sky-rocketed, so I'm sure that's where a lot of the cost is going. I was also looking at Tarantula Train out of Grapevine going to FW.

Here are the links to what I was finding last night...
