Gas. Miserable Gas!

My sweet little two week old boy has horrible stomach bubbles. What can I do? I've tried cutting milk from my diet and I haven't had anything spicy. I rigged his bassinett so that he sleeps at an angle instead of flat on his back, and I make sure he is as upright as possible as he nurses. He always burps well and we've tried simethicone drops. He doesn't like the swing. What's left to try? Any help would be much appreciated!

What can I do next?

Baby's Bliss Gripe Water (available at Walgreens) did the trick for us. I used the pacifier that dispenses medicine rather than a syringe and mixed it with about a teaspoon of warm water. A few doses each evening and I had a happy little baby!

Our son was colicky from reflux and gas. The technics in the video "The Happiest Baby on the Block" were an instant, permanent cure in about 10 minutes. He went from screaming from 10p to 5a to sleeping 4 and 5 hours at night. He still did need acid reflux meds for growth issues, but the misery was cured. (For him and us.) :) GL and congratulations!

Something you are eating isn't working for him, even if you removed dairy. I got to the point of water and bread it seemed to help my daughter. Turns out she had reflux and I ended up having to put her on predigested formula.
I would speak to your Pediatrician. If you remove most foods that could cause issues from your diet then maybe the can suggest something else. I know it is hard. I also would lay my daughter down flat on her back and gently push her legs up to her chest very gently to help ease gas pains. Mylicon worked for a while for us.
I gave them to her BEFORE the feedings though.
Unfortunately I had to stop breast feeding by month four because I was literally removing everything, caffeine, sugar, wheat, nuts, dairy, eggs, from my diet and she still had issues. Once I put her on the predigested formula it was like a 100% transformation. She was able to go without having gas, her reflux settled down and she gained weight.
Just talk to your Pediatrician, they may be able to help you out and need to give you the best advice for your baby.

have you tried a sleep positioner? I liked using one of those better than raising one side of my daughters crib... plus they are portable, so you can use in teh pack & play, etc.

try putting your baby face down lying across your arm with your hand cupping his belly and pat his back... think of a monkey lying on a branch.... my daughter always liked this, I think it is soothing and will encourage gas bubbles out...

also, when my daughter was around 3 months old I would give her a little belly massage every day. I went to a baby massage class (i think they have to be 6 weeks old)... most of the stuff in class was common sense, gentle massage stuff... but there was this series of belly massage that always encouraged either a big bunch of gas or a poop out of my daughter. she got a little gassy when I went back to work... I'm not sure if it was stress or a change in my diet (she was breastmilk only) anyway... I would do the belly massage like 3 times a day, it was a life-saver. and I liked it too because it didn't involve any medications, etc.

good luck
