Hi,
Does anyone know of a kids hair salon that has those little cars they can sit in or something like that in the Lincoln Park area? I did see one somewhere in the City but cannot remember where it was! Many thanks in advance, Sal x

Kid's Snips and Snippets.
Both are on Clyborn. Kid's Snips is in the strip mall at Racine and Clyborn. Snippets is on Clyborn between Armitage and Webster. You need to make an appointment, don't walk in you will wait. I have been to both and they do just an ok job with boys hair. The kids like to sit in the cars and they can watch a show while they get their hair cut.

Hi,
I agree with pp that although kidsnips is moderately fun for the kids because they get to watch a video in a car during the cut, they didn't do a great job and they seemed oddly unkidfriendly (I was there on 2 different occasions.) $18 before tip is a bit expensive for what you get. Also, very hard to get my kids out of there without them wanting to buy a bunch of garbage toys. I live in Evanston but I take my 4 and 1 year old girls to the haircuttery. It's only $10 and they give a lollipop at the end of the cut which makes my kids pretty happy. Good luck!

You must be talking about Snippets on Clybourn. We took our son there for his first hair cut. I felt like $25 was pretty pricey for the crappy hair cut he got, though. It wasn't stylish in the least, and the place is loaded with toys, so convincing our son to actually leave the toy area to get the hair cut caused a major tantrum. I wouldn't recommend it. We had much better luck at regular hair cut places that do kid cuts but without all the fuss. We've been taking both of our kids to Studio 4 Hair on north Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square. They do a fabulous job, and it costs $10. Both my son and daughter have gotten very stylish cuts there... a million times nicer than what we ended up with at Snippets.

Hi S.,

Check out www.kidwinks.com - it will help with your hair cut question as well as with living in Chicago with kids in general. Go to the Services section to find hair cut places; check out the Events Calendar for a calendar full of things to do with the kids, including free days at museums & zoos, festivals, concerts, story times, open play days, etc. Go to the Restaurants section to find kid-friendly dining places, and use the Kids Eat Free Calendar there to find out where kids eat free or cheaply any day of the week. The Ongoing Activities section is great to peruse when you're stumped for something to do anytime - bowling, mini golf, indoor play, etc. Become a member, which is free, and you can sort any of these search results by distance from your house.

Some kids really can't stand having their hair cut. ine was like that when he was 2. Kid Snips and Snipits is perfect for kids like that. Snipits doesn't have all the toys like Kid Snips. I usually had good results with hair cuts at both places, but kept having to ask them to cut off more...and more...and more and get them to even it out. It was always a disaster trying to leave Kid Snips without buying a toy so I started going to Snipits. They charge a little more, but you can go back anytime for a free bang trim. Both are expensive, but if you have a child who hates hair cuts it's a god send.

Snippets and Kid Snips are both fun and located on the 1900 block of Clybourne.
It's about $18 for a haircut.

i think there are two on Clyborn between Armitage and Webster. One is Snippets (I think?) and it's just south of the corner of clyborn and southport. The other is a little further south on clyborn but i can't remember the name
