For Mom's with 3 or More C-sections

I will be having my 3rd c-section in 2 weeks. I'm really excited, but also scared and anxious. My first one wasn't horrible, but I do remember it hurting to get out of bed for the first time, and my second one was a piece of cake. How was your 3rd c-section compared to your others?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the responses. I will be having lots of help, my husband took off 2 weeks of work and my Mom lives about 10 minutes away and is planning on helping me out with my kiddos. I'm just getting anxious the closer we get to my baby's birthday.

I've had the same experiences as you. My first wasn't too bad and my second was easier than the first. Now my third....well..... It was the most painful by far. My 2nd and 3rd were only 17 months apart so I think I may have had some extra scar tissue and some adhesions. I was in a lot more pain and for longer than the first and second time. Everyone's different though. I wish you the best of luck!!

I'm about to have my 4th c-section. The first two were not planned. It just happened that my babies didn't want to come out naturally. The third was scheduled. This current pregnancy will be scheduled as well. I had NO infections with any of my c-sections.

The first c-section was tough. Couldn't lay down in my bed, moved very slow...took time to heal; I had no problems with my epidural, though.

The second was with a spinal and I had no problems. I even bounced back fairly quick. Still moved slow for a period of time, but compared to my first one, my second c-section was a breeze.

With the third c-section, they put morphine in my I.V. during the surgery. I wish they had not. I was so sick because of it. I had a spinal for my third c-section. I had severe back pain for almost 10 days after the surgery and I had a spinal headache for over a week. My third c-section was definitely harder on me. You cannot go by others, like myself in how each c-section was. We are all very different and you could very well recover very nicely without a single hiccup. Don't be scared. You already know what to expect: you know it will be difficult at first but it gets easier as each day passes. congratulations...and good luck. I have 4 more weeks to go!

With #1 I planned to have her vaginally, but the cord was wrapped around her neck so had to have a C-Section. Yep, very sore afterward getting out of bed at first especially...ouch. With #2, decided to try V-BAC. That was just fine but still was sore from the stitching they had to do on me because son was big. #3 & #4 were twins and I got to choose! I chose C-Section. Honestly it was just as "easy" as vaginal delivery and I got to choose the date to deliver plus after the first C-Section it's always easier. One friend had four C-Sections...she told the doctor....just cut on the dotted line! :)

Just remember that after 2 c-sections, it is MUCH safer to continue to have them. Best wishes!

I've had 3, and I think people recover differently from surgery. I'd guess if your 2nd was a piece of cake, there's no reason to worry that the 3rd will be any different :)
Congratulations!!!!

I have had three c-sections. I had no problems, took pain meds maybe for a day or two.

Good luck to you!

Congrats!!!

My 1st was the hardest. By #3, my body went, "Oh, been here, done that. No problem." :)

My first was the worst. I have had three. I would say #2 and #3 were both pretty easy recoveries. I was busy with my older kids when I got home, so I did not have much time to think about the pain!!

I have had 2 open abdominal myomectomies (where the cut me hip to hip like a c-section), 1 c-section, and 1 open abdominal bowel obstruction surgery (again cut like a c-section). Like other said, the first one was the worst, I think because your body was never traumatized like that before. With each surgery, recovery went better. Just remember to take it easy and have lots of help scheduled to help care for your older kids and house cleaning. Even though you may not feel the pain, remember that with each surgery, it actually does take longer for the body to heal itself because of previous scar tissue. I thnk I was just a little more tired after my 3rd and 4th surgeries. But I also had a 2 yo after my 2nd and 3rd surgeries and then a new born after my 3rd and 4th surgeries as well.

I wouldn't worry too much about it though. As long as you take time to care for yourself, get lots of rest, and good nutrition, you will be just fine. Congrats on your new pending addition to the family!
