I have also heard of another cake idea...buy a white cake mix and dye it with blue or pink food coloring. Bake the cake, frost it and when you cut into it the sex will be revealed by the color of the cake!

Have the tech NOT tell you the gender but write it on a piece of paper and put it in a sealed envelope. Then go to a store and pick out a boy outfit and girl outfit. Take it to the counter and have the cashier read the envelope and have you purchase the outfit that matches the sex of the baby. The mom needs to make sure she isn't looking while this is going on. The cashier needs to make sure she keeps all of this hidden. Then the gift is wrapped - - by the store preferably or bring a box and wrap it w/out looking. I think babies r us has free gift wrap. Then the mom and dad go out to a nice dinner and during dinner they open up the gift and they are both surprised of the sex. Cheers!

My husband & I did something similar in telling the family what the baby was. Since ours was a boy, we bought a picture frame that was boy themed and framed the sonogram picture and wrapped it up.

I have not read the other responses so I apologize if this is a duplicate. Some friends of ours got the sonogram & put the results in a sealed envelope. They brought the envelope to a cake baker and she made a cake. She frosted it with white frosting & made it look really cute. They had a bbq with their close friends and family & after they ate, they cut the cake to find out the gender. It was a cool idea I thought.

My husband plays guitar, so when I found out the sex of our baby, I got him a guitar pick that was pink. With our other daughter, I got a book about dads (one of those small Hallmark books) and signed it from his little girl.
Have fun!!!

My SIL was out of town when my daughter found out, so she had wrapped two outfits (boy and girl) and asked him to unwrap the one that had the boy clothes, I can't remember how she labeled it.
I kind of think the suggestion of writing the results on your tummy is cute, maybe the tech can write on her stomach and they can both look together, this wouldn't have worked with my daughter 'cause she would have looked, not patience!! LOL
Let us know her creative way of telling, this will be one I'll be thinking about, maybe I can think of something else, how fun.

Ok, I can't beat Karen's idea, but here are some suggestions of ideas I've heard of...

* Get a double layer cake made w/pink or blue icing in the middle layer. When he cut into it, he'll know. This would be great for the kids to do too!

* Get the pastel M&M's & pick out wither the pink or blue. Put them in a dish & let Dad & each kid pick one out with their eyes closed. Have them open all at once & announce the color.

* Have flowers sent & announce the sex in the card or w/the flower colors.

Sorry, that's all I have!

Good luck!

Good Morning L., She could always dress up in a pink or Blue bonnet with matching Pj's. Or have someone (You) write with paint on her tummy Hi Dad, guess what My name is.... See you soon.

Sweet thing your doing for your friend
