Fixing Dry Scalp (Craddle Cap?)...

My 1yr old had a really dry scalp all of a sudden. Since she was born, Ive always been able to pick a littlt dead skin off her head (I know, gross), but you couldnt see it unless you picked at it. Now it's winter and everything is more dry and you can see her scalp is cracked and very dry. If I tried to pick all of it off it would take forever and she'd never hold still that long. Ive tried scratching (not very hard, Im scared it hurts her) while we wash her hair, and brushing while wet and it doesnt do a thing. Anyone have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

don't use baby oil. cradle cap is an oily condition. there are shampoos out for such matters. i know in the baby section at walmart there is a very expensive shampoo-$8 a bottle. and in the regular shampoo there are some too. i have used the genaric brand of the nuetragena brand.

After a bath try putting Aveeno bath oil on her scalp. An aunt recommended it for our son and it worked wonders! It's scent free and gentle enough for babies. I would put that on his scalp overnight and it cleared up very quickly.

Good Luck!

Paul Mitchell's Baby Don't Cry shampoo worked great for my first son. I still use it for both my boys. It's a little more expensive, but since my boys have short hair, it lasts me forever. My second son had cradle cap really bad (I actually thought he had food in his hair one day it was so thick). I would rub baby oil into it and use a baby comb and it worked great. I had to do it a few times, but he hasn't had it in months. I hope you find something that works for you!

My 2mo. old has this and I used Eucerin creme on her head I know sounds weird but I figured I'd try it. Worked great it's gone. I also tried vaseline which worked fine too. She looked all greasy and slimy but when she woke up in the morning she was good to go.
