First Communion Gift Ideas

I have three nieces celebrating their First Communions this spring. One of them is my husbands God-Daughter. In the past I have given my God-Daughter a Madame Alexander First communion figurine (this is the collection I give her). Another niece I have given a keepsake box for her rosary. I am not Catholic. I would like ideas on gifts. Many websites show the same types of gifts - frame, rosary, gift box set, etc. What types of gifts have your children received that they thought were extra special? Thanks for your help.

What can I do next?

Silpada Designs offers a Prayer Box bracelet. It is a pre-teen sterling silver stretch bracelet with a sterling silver prayer box charm that opens. It's $24 on page 86.

The nice thing is when she outgrows the stretch bracelet, the charm can be put on a necklace or a traditional charm bracelet to treasure forever! The mothers and grandmothers adore this piece at the parties!
Let me know if I can help!

Christian gift/bookstores generally have items for all religions. I love the idea of the cross necklaces. Anything that they could use when they get married is nice as well. We gave a small bible to our Godson when he was baptized and I thought he could carry it in his pocket when he gets married.

All girls like jewelry. How about a nice cross necklace? When they get a little older they can buy a new chain for the cross to go on if the one it comes with is shorter.

One thing I wished I had started with my God-daughter was to give her Fontanini Nativity pieces. The First Communion is a great time to give her the Holy Family pieces. Then at Christmas you can keep adding individual pieces: Wise Men, donkey, Angels, camels, other people and animals, etc. When she is Confirmed or Married, you could give her the Nativity Stable. When she's grown, she will have a complete, high-quality, non-breakable, Nativity set she will have and use throughout her life.

My grand daughter loves the Crystal Angel by PartyLite. It makes her feel more grown up to be responsible for something so pretty that she can have lit up for special occasions (with supervision, of course). There is also a Crystal Cross and a Kindness Angel. The angel and the cross come with a velvet pouch. Sometimes she helps me at my PartyLite Shows, since I am a PartyLite Consultant and she has asked for these items (as well as others) for gifts. My website is: www.partylite.biz/sweetness if you would like to see these items. They are on pages 36 and 46 in the catalog that you can view online. S.

I gave my nieces pierced earings of their birth stone. they got their ears pierced when they were babies. The earings are adult sized, so they're really something to enjoy when they are older.

How about a charm bracelet? Every Xmas and/or birthday, I give them a new charm to add to it. The charms reflect what is new in their lives (i.e. an apple for starting kindergarten).
