Facebook Question - Attachment Unavailable

I'm hoping one of you moms (or dads) might be Facebook savvy :-)

My son's band teacher has a Facebook page, but every time I check the page, his posts say, "Attachment Unavailable."

His posts always have a few "likes" and say "Seen by 18," but I can never see the post. Do I need to change one of my settings? Am I not checking the posts soon enough (do they expire)?

I want to be informed, but I'm just not on Facebook that much. If you have any thoughts at all, I am all ears!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I did send the band teacher an email letting him know. I checked, and I am a member of the group. But I am not "friends" with the band teacher.

I'll let him know and then try again. Thanks for your help!!!

Are you facebook friends with the band teacher? If its a group page he created did you like the page to follow it? Usually if you get the attachment unavailable thing its because you aren't authorized to see it. I see it happen all the time when someone tried to share something in a public forum but their own settings only allow friends only to see their post.

this happened to me once with a scouting group. If I recall, I had given them an email address that was not the same one that I used for my facebook account.

This seemed to cause some problem. When I changed my facebook account settings to use the same email address that I had given the scout leader, it all worked.

Or alternatively, you could 'friend' the teacher I suppose, or try what Diane says below.

The issue is with the Band Teacher's privacy settings. If he is using this page for band/parent communication, he needs to change his settings to not restrict viewers. Sent him a message to let him know you can't see what he posts. He might not be aware.

It's the band teacher's privacy settings. I would tell him you can't see his posts, that he needs to make them "public." This happens in a few groups I'm a part of, sometimes people post but they don't realize their privacy settings only allow for "friends" or "friends of friends." And since some people in the group are "friends" they can see things that I can't.

He's sharing attachments that you don't have permission to view.
In other words - he "shared" from someone else's wall/page and they had theirs marked as "private" or "Friends only" or "Friends of Friends". If you are NOT friends with or "like" the group it is shared from? You cannot see it.

Also - if the person he is sharing it from has you blocked? You cannot see it either.
