Does anyone have a recommendation for an Episcopal church in the Lamorinda area? I am looking for a church that has a good child and youth program. At my old church, the children were involved in the ceremony and I really liked that for my daughter. Preferably, I would like to find a church similar to that.

What can I do next?

Hi L.,
I'd give St. Timothy's in Danville a shot. I know it's a little hike but you just might like it. They have a wonderful preschool (our son went there who is now 15) and a very strong community. There's a summer vacation bible school coming up in June that could give you a feel for the place. Good luck!

Try St Paul's Episcopal Church in Walnut Creek at 1924 Trinity Way near Target. I was raised Catholic and my husband Quaker. The service felt very comfortable and familiar to me which I really liked. They have a children's program and a wonderful old chapel that was built the 1880's.

I am not Espiscopalian but my girls went to St. Stephens Pre-School (long time ago) and that is a lovely church. I have been to many weddings there ( I work with a wedding photographer) and many of my daughters school events there. It is on St. Stephens Drive in Orinda. I think this would be worth checking out.

I'm not familiar with the Episcopal churches on this side of the tunnel, but some friends of mine are active in St. John's Episcopal in Montclair which is off the Moraga/Thornhill exit of Hwy 13 http://www.stjohnsoakland.org/ . Our family is involved with Oakland First Covenant Church a bit further down Hwy 13 (http://www.oaklandfcc.org ) which also has an extensive children's program. Our senior pastor and many of the congregants were raised Catholic and we have a few Episcopalians as well and they've found that they "fit in" just fine here although our Sunday services aren't as liturgical as Catholic or Episcopalian services.
feel free to email me offline if you have any q's. We recently moved to Orinda
