Dsi Game Question

Hi. I'm a little uh.. ignorant when it comes to hand-held games, so forgive me here. Both my girls have DSi's. One is dead and the other has been handed down to my 5 yr. old. About a month ago, it was stolen by a neighbor kid (I posted on that.. ugh... different story there!) Anyway, when the kid and his brother had it, they erased all the flipnotes, games, music, etc... that my daughter and her friends had taken soooo very long to get on there. Is there a way to get free flipnote programs, music, other apps for the dsi? He's only 5, but he is very upset because he used to play on these games/apps.

Anyway, if any of you know, let me know... I also have no idea HOW to get the games/apps onto the DSi, but I'm sure the girls or my husband can figure that part out!

Thanks for any information!

What can I do next?

Downloadable games and apps can be re-downloaded from the Nintendo DSi Shop.

The music will have to be reloaded by whatever the original means was to put it on there.

Save-game files, pictures and notes they had created, etc. Those are gone. They will have to restart the games from the beginning.

Do you have a GameStop in your area? Those guys are so much better than anyone at Best Buy and the like when it comes to all things video games and players.

Nope, sorry. Many a fight in our house because my younger daughter loves to be beaten up by her older brother. I mean that seems to be the only reason she would erase his data and then tell him...over and over. Once it is erased it is gone.

My son is the resident expert - here's his suggestion:

Re-download the games/apps off of the Nintendo Eshop app. Once you buy a game from there, it should be free to re-download it, and most of the apps are free to begin with. The only problem is that it's tied to that particular DSi. If you can't get it back, the games would have to be paid for again. The shop app icon is a blue bag; afaik it can't be deleted.

Regarding the music, to my knowledge you have to add the music files back to it by plugging the SD card into your computer and adding them to the correct folder. Unfortunately, I personally haven't done anything with music myself, so I can't tell you which folder to put them in.
