Double Strollers and Baby Slings

I have one and I the only thing I would consider a con, is there isn't much storage, but overall I'm very satisfied.

I have an Over-The-Shoulder Baby Holder Sling and my kids and I have really enjoyed it, and I recommend checking out www.kangarookorner.com. It is very informative and their website has a page that lists and describes all the different slings out there and the pros and cons of each. It also tells you how, with pictures, to wear each sling in several different positions. It helped me know how to use my sling for nursing and from birth to toddlerhood (my son is 3 and I still occasionally wear him on my hip or back in the sling if he needs some extra attention and I need to get things done). They sell several different types, but they make their own pouch sling that seems to be their best seller. I bought my Over-The-Shoulder Baby Holder on ebay for $10. Make sure you get the right size! Someone gave me a size medium for free and I could never get it tight enough to keep my baby close and snug so I always had to use my hand to keep him safe, defeating the purpose of hands-free holding. I'm so glad I ditched the free one that was too big and bought the correct size for my body, because it's been great since I got one that fits. Slings take a little figuring out, but it is second nature for me now. I love being able to hold my babies and keep them close, and so do they.

I don't know about a double stroller. I love the slings by Slinglings dot com. I had both an unpadded and now a padded one when my son was about 10 months old. He is almost 14 months and still loves the sling. He has yet to sit in a shopping cart!

We have the Joovy tandem stroller...our 6 mo old rides in the front and our 2 1/2 yr old stands (or occasionally sits on the bench) in the back. I'd probably just check the length on the Joovy website to make sure it will fit in your trunk. I also use a Baby Bjorn...it can get warm if you're walking a lot outdoors in the summer, but I've found it to be more comfortable than others. Good luck!

I have a Peanut Shell sling which has been great for my son! I wish I would have had it sooner, got it when he was about 8 weeks old and I still use it now and he is almost a year. Got it at Luna Blue in Gilbert. You can buy online as well, but I wanted to actually try one on before buying!

This is not a sling, but a carrier that can be used front and/or back. Light weight and durable. I HIGHLY recomend!

As for double strollers, you'll probably need a tandem to start with. Unfortunately with those, they can be hard to steer, especially with the heavier child in the front. I had the Jeep tandem stroller and I do not suggest it. Heavy, bulky, really really difficult to steer- more so than other friends' double strollers!

Once your newest can sit up, I would suggest a side-by-side stroller... those turn on a dime but JUST fits through doors. I currently have the Jeep side-by-side stroller and LOVE it! Although it doesn't have a basket on the bottom... and I'm finding that my 2 YO would rather walk than ride.

Another suggestion may be the sit and stand stroller... depending on how much your first child needs to be strapped down! You'll be able to put the infant car carrier in it while the baby is little and then the baby can sit up when when ready. The older child can sit behind the younger... and it's not wide like the side-by-side.
