I usually ignore posts that don't interest me, but I keep seeing them disappear and I would like to know how it works.

What can I do next?

Well, this post might disappear, because MP doesn't like these kinds of threads. (They want you to write mamasupport instead.)

I think that there are certain phrases that are flagged. I also think that there is an automatic search for a question mark.

People can report posts and threads that are inappropriate. Sometimes MP agrees something needs to go and sometimes they don't. Sometimes a post is removed in error.

MP will eventually remove a thread that goes south - people yelling at each other, rude remarks going back and forth, etc. They also remove threads that are specifically blasting someone on the threads - there have been several inappropriate threads of that nature lately. Lots of times they remove threads that ask why a thread has been removed too.

MP won't allow people on here to get too personal with each other. They don't like cat fights. I don't blame them.

usually if enough people "report" a post as inappropriate, someone reviews it and removes it if it's against the site's policies. not sure how this one works but others i've been involved with work that way.

funny since some seem to be removed that aren't against the rules. maybe just some upset mamas since it's against their own thoughts =)

It depends... on how the website was designed and developed.
Behind every website, there are parameters/computer programming and criteria and data.
Then there are actual warm bodies, maintaining the site.
Not all sites, are the same.

And per this site, it also goes according to when/if a post or response, is complained about and 'reported.'

I haven't looked at the rules, but I saw one this past weekend that was ugly, very ugly. People wen't nice to each other and talked about someone without her being able to tell her side. I wondered what the person complaining really said to her first to make the other one fuss back.

I haven't seen too many things disappear, but I was glad that one was finally gone.

Who IS behind the curtain, and why do (innoxious) posts get removed? To my knowledge, we don't actually know.

Here are some pieces to the puzzle:
We can report a post (but that doesn't mean it get pulled). I think posts are pulled without being flagged too.

I'm fairly certain that mampedia is outsourced. http://www.mamapedia.com/questions/13722960296136540161

In the past it seems their were site moderators, some of our own. I don't know that is the case anymore.

I WISH I knew! ;-)
