I don't know how far along you are, but when the egg attaches to the wall, there is usually a little spotting.

Sounds normal to me....I've had 5 kids and that happened with pretty much all of them. Congratulations!!

This could certainly be normal. But if it continues it could be a sign of something else. Not to alarm you, but I would advise you to have your doctor check your progesterone level, and have a visit as soon as possible. A low progesterone level signals your body to start sloughing off your lining (this is what happens monthly with our cycle). If your progesterone level is low, the doctor could possibly give you something to supplement. Some Ob/gyn's use natural progesterone from a compounding pharmacy, and some use a synthetic prescription...either used if they think it will help the situation.

I have four healthy children and have had all kinds of pregnancy challenges on top of that. I'm not projecting any of my situations on you. But I'm sharing my experiences because I have had many of them relating to pregnancies. Regarding progesterone, I ended up taking it upon myself to have my levels checked monthly (a regular md can order these blood tests) in between pregnancies during the time of the month that the level should be high. I charted myself to get my progesterone levels normal before pregnancy. I got them normal by using a natural progesterone cream. I then found an ob/gyn who would check my progesterone levels as soon as I got pregnant, and monitored it for a minute to be sure that they would on track, steadily increasing during the pregnancy. If the levels had not been right, she would have given me the progesterone pills from the compounding pharmacy (meaning that they weren't synthetic, which is a progestin which has side effects).

yep it's normal but you do need to start OB/GYN care ASAP.

Yes this is normal. Your body could have been preparing to have a period but stopped when you got pregnant so now it is shedding what little bit of blood that is there. I also spotted with my son for a few days around 8 weeks and was told it was normal but my DR did a v** ultrasound to be on the side of caution and all was fine.

Oh My Goodness! Do NOT breathe a word about possible pregnancy to ANYONE at your new job until you have read all the fine print about thier insurance, whether you would qualify for FMLA, whether you can get Short Term Disability (You WANT short term disability, but if there's PROOF of prior pregnancy, you may not be able to get it), medical insurance, etc. Also, MANY places have a trial period of 90 days in which they may terminate your employment for ANY reason (or not give a reason at all.)

Put off disclosing pregnancy as long as possible. Wear horizontal stripes NOW so they'll think you're a little chunky & won't notice the first 10-15 pounds you'll be packing on. On the other hand, you would want to mention it before everyone KNOWS - maybe 5th month or so. Depending on the kind of work you do, you should give your boss enough time to plan for someone else to fill in for you.

(If your in Atlanta, North Point(e) OB.GYN is good. They are affiliated with North Fulton hospital, which is much more accomodating than Northside, and has a lower c-section rate. If you want Northside hospital anyway, try Dr. Randell OR one of the folks at Women's Health Associates.)

It is possible that the brown discharge and blood are from the egg implanting. Check with a doctor to be sure.

Hello D. my name is C. B and I believe that you need to have that issue checked quickly as posible, at least with ob doctor to make that everything is okay with you and your baby. By the way, congrads on your first!!!!!

Small amounts of brown discharge would not present a concern. If you see red blood you would want to have it checked out immeadiately. It is time to find an OB or midwife that you are going to be able to ask these questions to. They're not a magic person that is really going to DO anything right now, but they will monitor the miracle that your body is making and let you know how things are moving along. I strongly recommend a midwife personally. You will get more personal care and they are very competent.

I had the same thing, even follwed with spotting red for several months. My OB was not concerned and I had a healthy baby who is now a big hairy young man. COngratulations on your first pregnancy. it is normal to worry. Like the rest of us, you will learn as you go. Enjoy this time.

i had the same thing happen with my second child. i had the discharge for several months. the doctor told me sometimes that happens.

The same thing happened to me and my OB said it was because I was dehydrated. They said to drink lots of water. Once I did, and kept it up, I never had it again! :)

I to had the discharge, with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancy during the time I would have had my next period. While I was pregnant the first time with twins, I had heavier bleeding and they checked and said the placenta was trying to tear away, so I went on bed rest for a couple of days. The second pregnancy, I put myself on bedrest for a day and it cleared - the third pregnancy I went about business as usual and determined it was just the way my body handled pregnancy.
I recommend with it being your first that you see a doctor for confirmation and peace of mind for your situation. We are all different and it could be something or nothing. Congratulations! I pray that all goes well for you and your new little one!

You need to see an ob as soon as you can just so they can start to track the pregnancy and also to check you due to this discharge. How far along do you think you are? I would go to an ob right away.

I did the same with both of my pregancies. It happened right around the time I was supposed to start my period. Both times I thought I was starting my period, but then the bleeding/spotting stopped after that first day.

I hate to alarm you but the same thing happened to me with my first pregnancy and it was the beginning of a miscarriage. How far along are you? I was 8 weeks when it happened which is a common time for a miscarriage. Go get checked! This can be normal but it can also indicate a problem. I'll hope for the best for you.

I had the same thing with two of my three pregnacies. The dr. said it was because the placenta was on the bottom and hadn't moved up yet. BUT, please go to the OB and get it checked out. There are lots of things it could be.

Just wanted to take a minute to respond. I did have that same thing with one of my pregnancies. I called the doctor and they told me as long as it wasn't like flowing red blood that it was probablly ok. Usually, a little brown discharge and a small amount of blood is nothing to be worried about. I have even known a few women to have alot of spotting during pregnancy and they delivered healthy babies. Just stay in contact with your ob doctor and maybe just take it easy for a few days.
