Has anybody signed up for DirectBuy? (It supposedely gives you wholesale prices but you have to pay a membership.) If so, have you been happy with it and how much is the membership? We're getting ready to do our countertops, backsplash, and floors and need a good source for tile.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the tips. I have been to Seconds and Surplus a while back. We'll check there again. My father-in-law is a mason and is coming to visit for two weeks, so we've got the labor covered!

Hi K.,

We just did a huge remodel on our house and cost was definitely an issue. We were really happy with our tile and the service and price. We got it from Reese on Trail Lake and I20 in FW. Their number is ###-###-####. They were really great. We had our contractor do the tile and he did a really lousy job so we had to hire someone to fix it and he was fantastic. He does really great worka for a good price and he is just really a great guy as well. His name is Chris Laskoski and his number is ###-###-####. Good luck! Tell them the Lawrences say hi :)

Hi K.,

My MIL signed up for "DB" over the Summer and I thought she was nutts for paying over 5K for the membership.
YES that's $5,000+. Make no mistake it will cost you to save. She bought a couple of things and the last time she went there to pick something out they treated her very badly so, she cancelled her membership and made a stink about their customer service. They DID refund her the entire membership fee. Hope this helps.
Sorry I can't refer you to a wholesaler. I'm new around here.

You are probably going to get just as good of prices at Lowes or Home Depot without a huge membership fee. Plus, they can either show you how to install it yourself (tile is really easy) or find someone to do it for you (countertops are really hard) and work with your budget. The people at Direct Buy were just money-hungry and wouldn't know anything about installation. The other place I've found good deals on tile is Seconds and Surplus, as someone else mentioned or just those tile warehouses you see everywhere. I found my kitchen tile on some weird special at one of those for 88 cents a square, which was insanely cheap compared to other places. Good luck - have fun shopping!

Try looking at Seconds and Surplus. If I remember correctly it's off of 35 and Royal. Last time we were there they did have tile.
