Has anyone taken any of the over the counter diet pills? I am trying to lose a little weight and have hit a wall. I am sceptical about the pills, but am wondering what others experiences are. Thanks for any info (good or bad).

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the info. I'm glad I didn't waste any money on the pills. I have lost about 11 lbs so far by changing my diet and going on bio-identical HRT. But, like I said I seem to have hit a wall and would like to lose another 10 lbs. I know I need to step up my exercise and increase my water. Easier said then done, I just need to get my butt in gear. lol
Thanks again for the info

Dear Pat, I have taken Dexetrim, Leptoprin, and Thermo Slim. All have made me lose weight, but I gained it all back plus more. Diet pills are a mood killer, and personality destroyer. Diet pills also mess up your metabolism. A diabetic diet will help you lose weight. Even if you're not diabetic. The more you exercise, the less you'll want to eat. Choose foods with 3g or less in Sugar, 15g or less in Carbs, and watch the calorie intake. With me taking diet pills, and having a weight problem, it made it worse. I aquired diabetes, and started to have high blood pressure. I have resorted in Gastric Bypass. Anything you can do now to avoid diabetes, and high blood pressure, and possible surgery later on will benefit you greatly. I hope this helps. Please, for your health's sake, stay away from diet pills. Sincerely, G.

No pills Pat,
I have been physically fit all my life even preagnant I gained baby and was never in maternity clothes. The key to it all is youre a busy mom and working out is hard when you have kids. i worked out with at home pilates yoga videos, they require no weights and strenghthen and tone and elongate muscle. I was a gym rat for 22 years and with kids there is no gym or eating at the right time. Eating is the key my friend went on a diet and excercise routine and in 3 weeks 11 pounds gone. I sat and watched her eat. She ordered a hamburger no bun a side of green vegetables, and tomatoes with water and lemon to drink. She told me that meat(red) and green vegetables were what she was eating they are high in protein and produce lean muscle which replaces fat. She looks great... Diet pills accelerate your heart rate and do damage. Find a walking partner or crank up the music and dance with or without your kids. The more you move the faster your motabalism works the more energy you have, the proper food gives that to you and if you starve your body with pills you will not lose you may even gain. But you have to do it and want to do it. The Method pilates/yoga work out is great its for abs, thighs and butt and arms its ste up in 15 minute work outs and you will feel it the next day. I have never done yoga but after doing these tapes They were easy. Also kickboxing videos burn alot. The pilates is great to sculpt that body and once you see the muscle building and showing you will feel stronger and after 28 days it will become a habit you will enjoy. Sobe brand makes great energy drinks that are natural and great tasting, green tea and cranberry juice also help you detox your body of build up of sugars and fats. I have spent my life in a gym with trainers and without and I ralize that moms dont get that time to theirselves alot and we tend to put the kids first. Moms need pampering to, remember that. Also Neutrogena lotion with active copper is a great toning lotion for all over. And all woman are beautiful at any size, you have to be comfortable in your own skin as I always say..Take care.

I've taken them all!! I used Metabolife to great success (got down to a size 2) when it had ephedrine in it. I don't know about now - it really made my heart race and there were a lot of bad reports over heart problems with it. I won't take anything now - I exercise every day and if I gain a couple of pounds - (I weigh myself every day!) I cut things out of my diet and add things to my exercise routine like rowing or different weight routine.

I have taken them all and if they dont make you sick, most are still harmful to your body, and not worth it in the long run, I have found that the only thing that works for me is going back to common sense weight loss, burn more calories than you eat, while still eating a healthy diet eat less or healthier and workout more. If you want to start walking I am always looking for new walking partners!! =)

I have taken Nitro Burn Extreme. They take the edge off of my hunger and give me energy. You are only supposed to use them for a few months at a time. I was off of them for about 6 months and I did not gain the weight back, I continued to lose even when I went off of them. I think it helped me to adjust to eating less. I just started taking them again and have already seen more loss. When I took them last year I exercised and dieted and lost over 40lbs. I buy them at Tommy's Nutrition on 35th and Union Hills.

I agree taking diet pills is not the way to go. I am 38 years old and have 5 kids with over 100 pounds to lose. Try this website www.sparkpeople.com and stop drinking pop if you are a soda drinker and implement more water into your diet. Walking great source of exercise.

Hi Pat,

I have tried a few different ones with no luck... the only ones that can help are from a doctor.
