OK so my daughter watched Hop and now she tells me that not only do you decorate eggs for the bunny (which he takes and gives other kids) but the bunny brings you eggs (shes pretty sure he gives you the eggs from the other kids as well) also apparently he gives you toys hes done playing with in your basket?? Her dad took her to the movie and I wasn't aware of the new Easter bunny activties...I thought you just decorated eggs and the bunny brought you a basket and hid plastic eggs!!! Thanks a Lot Hop!!!! lol...I guess new traditions are good! Shes writing her name on an egg so the next kid knows who its from=)
It sure did. I had to tell my four year old NOT to put jelly beans in his butt and try to poop them out like E.B. Nice...
I would tell her that's fine, but I'd remind her that it's not a documentary. J. like other made up stories she reads in books or sees on TV. You can let her decorate the egg, but I wouldn't let her dictate your traditions. Kind of like how you do the Tooth Fairy the way YOU want.
In my house, the bunny might not leave you a basket if you were bad...but if Mom got a soft heart you might find an alternate container. ;)
Aww. We totally forgot to dye eggs this year. Oops! Guess we'll each dye one tonight and throw 'em in the fridge for part of our lunch tomorrow. Don't have a party this year, so we don't need to be making so many eggs this time around.
And our playdate to the swimming pool was cancelled due to rain this afternoon.....I'm killing time to take them to see Hop instead, 20 more minutes... Thanks for the warning. :P
I've been having quite a few conversations with my 4-year old about how things on TV and in books are not real. We started with simple (obvious) things like Mickey Mouse and talking trains. But now that he's got the concept, he understands when I say it about things like the movie Hop. If you want the new traditions, go for it! But you might start working on the concept before the next kids movie comes out, which might have ideas you don't want to incorporate into your life LOL!
Too late, I know - but suggestion for next year - team up with a friend and switch their eggs with yours! LOL :-)
Don't ya love it when kids gets these great ideas from movies? I can't tell you how many times I've had to say, "That was J. a movie, and it's make-believe. Things don't happen that way in real life". If you're game for new traditions, great, but that sounds like a heck of a lot more work to M..

J. like funny books or videos you see about children. They are J. stories not for real. Use an Example like "The Paper Bag Princess. it is J. a story about a little girl. Cause there is no such thing as real girl talking to a real Dragon..
Or make it fit, whatever your family tradition is.
