Hello ladies,

I know it is only February, but I need to try to find a summer camp for my 12yr old son. We have always done the ymca camp in the past and he has always liked that. When I received info this year on their camps, most of the camps only go up to 11yrs. old. Now here's the other issue, I can't send him to an overnight camp because he is bipolarw/autistic tendencies. He is very home -based and has always done well at the ymca.He also has to take medications on a daily basis which is another reason I don't feel comfortable sending him to an overnight camp.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

I take my kids to the Jordan YMCA and there is a teen camp for the older kids. I don't know if they have it at the one you've been going to....just an idea.
Good luck!

Silly safari does a great job with week long day camps. You might give them a call or check out there web site. It is kind of a drive depending on where you live, but my son had a great time last year and wants to do it again this year. Shannon

How about Off the Wall Sports? They have a great summer day camp but I'm not sure how old it goes to. I think it's older than 12. Carmel Clay Parks also has a special day camp just for 'special needs' children. The Zoo has many day camps/classes for tweens/teens.

Try "Off the Wall" in Carmel. They offer daily, 3 days a week or 5 days sports camps. They go up to 13 yrs. My kids love it because there is a good variety, they go to Caribbean Cove swimming and good lunches and snacks provided.

Look in this months Indianapolis Monthly -magazine. They have a page in it for day camps in several places. The cover story- was about animals.. I think it was this or last month. I found my son's day camp- in there...
