Hello and good day to all you beautifull Ladies, I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful fall time.

I'm wondering if you have any ideas to share for a craft that a 5 and 7 year old can make as a gift for their mother's birthday? I'm rather at a loss right now with it. For their father's b-day a couple weeks ago they drew sweet pictures and I framed them and he put them up in his office. She doesn't have an office so that idea is out.

Thank You in advance

What can I do next?

I second the bath salts / hand scrub idea. It's soooo easy! Sugar + dish soap (the clear kind) + sugar free powdered drink mix (I used lemonade) and put in a mason jar tied with ribbon. I called it "Gardener's Hand Scrub" and my mother, who is a huge gardener absolutely loved it. She kept it by the kitchen sink and called and asked me for a refill a few months later.

Pine cone people. Let them find them, you hot glue the body parts together let them make the faces and clothes.
Paper flowers are always good.
You can find sun catchers and other easy crafts at the dollar store, dollar general and there are always discount/clearance bins at what ever craft store is near you.
Google "crafts for 5-7 year olds" tons of stuff to find.
Good luck!

Make a picture frame - buy a foam or wooden frame in any craft store, paint (if wood), then attach foam/wood shapes (paint the wood separately first, then glue on). Or stick macaroni shapes on the frame and spray paint the whole thing. Put in a photo of the kids. Or they can each do one.

Or do a little book on "what I love about my mom" - they can write out what they want to say, or they can dictate and someone can type it up, then they can illustrate the pages. You can put it in a store-bought rigid folder or report cover, or make a book cover out of wallpaper scraps, thick cardboard, and colorful duct tape. You can probably find the instructions on line but our schools do this with the kids' stories.

They can also paint flowerpots (plain terra cotta) or you can spray paint them and then the kids can stencil flowers or stick on shapes or use paints for abstract patterns (or do sponge painting). You can add artificial flowers or a green plant in some regular potting soil (if you do the latter, be sure you buy and paint a saucer too. Use a bottle cap to cover the hole to keep the dirt from coming out but allow excess water to drain.)

She may not have an office but add a strong magnet and the art can be added to the refrigerator. Or you can make her a steel board decorated and framed where she can hang that on the wall and add things to it with magnets.

Perhaps they could write a story on how much they enjoy her as a mom and create a book out of it full with their art work.

Perhaps they can make some latch hook rug designs if there is enough time. Perhaps something done with colorful leaves or bake cupcakes and decorate them or paint plates or placemats.

have them make her a jar of bath salts. (recipies on line). decorate wrapping paper and wrap a book, and a box of her favorite tea. Ask her when she'd like to make use of it. then take both kids out of her hair for a long afternoon/ evening and let her get some down time, and a luxurious bath.

good luck to you and yours,
F. B.
