Could I Be Pregnant? - Aubrey,TX

I ditched my Nuvaring last month to start trying for a baby. We today is the day my period should start and Ive only been spotting brown for two days now (sorry if timi). In addition my boobs feel like they are about to explode! It hurts to wear a bra even loosly. This was not a mentrual symptom I experianced before. So I'm not being anxious more so curious but I start wondering if I'm prego. Technically I'm not late but things feel different. This could be my body in shock from no birth control but again I got off birth control to have my daughter and it wasnt like this. So I had a old digital pregnancy test that expires next month that I took this morning. It said not pregnant. So could this be a false negative or am I really not prego and my body is just adjusting? Again not being anxious just trying to evaluate whats going on. TIA! If it helps Im a 29 year old pretty healthy and active female :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Wow are some of you pms'ing right now? Geez. I obviously don't expect a professional answer and will surely be visiting my doctor and not just going with what anyone on here says. I think most that post on here are looking for opinions. I have an Ingush I've used for years and have no reservation going to him. Anywho I will check again in a few days if my cycle doesn't start and pay a visit to my amazing obgyn. Thanks

Jacquelyn, those of us who read and answer daily see this question all the time. There aren't ever any variables and every pregnancy has different symptoms, so truly, the only way to tell is a test, waiting a few days then testing again, or going to to doctor.

FYI: If your post has the words "could I be pregnant" in it, prepare yourself for the onslaught of answers of the type that you have received. You set yourself up for this one, dear! Of course you could be pregnant. You are having sex without using any form of birth control. You already knew that though! Good luck whatever the outcome.

Hi T.-

If you had UNPROTECTED sex (or even protected sex) ...

You could be pregnant.

If you did not...not so much.

Wait...and take another test in a few days or a week...

I hear the $$ store tests are cheap...and perhaps as accurate.

I hope the outcome is as you desire...

If not...have 'fun' trying!

Seriously, guys, obviously, she's asking us, so don't go sending her to her obgyn. She is asking if her symptoms sound like pregnancy or if they just sound like hormone withdrawl. If she is pregnant, she'll go eventually when it's clear that she is. If you're going to post cranky and ambiguous, unhelpful answers, please don't post!
To T.: Sorry about the rant. When I came off BC I had a similar reaction. Also, when I became pregnant with my 1st, I felt as you do now. Unhelpful, I know, so I would wait another day or so and get another test. I personally never believed the first one, anyway. :) hth

We are not doctors, we have no clue if you are pregnant, or not. I highly recommend a visit to your ob/gyn for a real, educated, factual answer to your question :-).

Just because you don't get the answers you want, doesn't mean we are "PMSing". It just means that we think you should see your doctor instead of ask a bunch of internet strangers something we couldn't possibly answer.

But, since you want an answer - yes, of course you could be pregnant. You had sex without birth control.

I realize you've been here a while - but really????

IF you have had UNPROTECTED sex in the last month - then YES! It's POSSIBLE you are pregnant.

None of us are doctors. Buy a dollar store PG test and pee on it.

It could be your body adjusting to life without artificial hormones. We don't know. If you aren't pregnant then you need to see your OB/GYN to ask what the side affects are after taking out the Nuvaring. That's something I would BEFORE I took it out. I also would have asked if it was SAFE to TRY and get pregnant IMMEDIATELY after taking it out.

Those are the same symptoms I had when I was pregnant with my daughter and my twins, and I had those symptoms 3 days before I was suppose to have my period. Dollar store tests are accurate, so are the Walmart brand.

Anytime you have sex without protection, you could be pregnant.

You very well could be pregnant and because you just stopped your birth control if could make your cycles a little different. So the brown spotting could be implantation spotting. Which means you're pregnant but not far enough along to get a positive on a test. The earliest you can get a positive on a test is about 5 days after implantation. Also digital test are good but you have to have higher pregnancy hormone levels for it to be positive (so farther along in your pregnancy) most digital test need a level of 50 while the first response test can read a pregnancy with levels as low as 6! So I would wait a few more days (if you can stand it lol) then take another test and get the first response test! Good luck and let us know either way what happens!!!!!

The reason you're getting some of the answers you're getting is because we have people ask this question regularly, and usually the stories are crazier than this. ("I sat on a toilet seat after my boyfriend peed! Could I be pregnant?!?!") It starts to get old.

I'd say wait a few more days until you're late, buy a new pregnancy test and take it with your first morning urine. If you haven't started in a week or so after you're supposed to go to the doctor and explain what's going on and have blood drawn.

Every time i felt pregnant I was not, and many times I didn't feel prego I was. Yes, you could be pregnant. But those tests are pretty darn accurate.

If this is supposed to be the first day of your period and you haven't gotten it then the pregnancy test would be accurate at this point. Why not just wait another 2 days and take another test. Usually the doctor wont see you until you are 6 weeks pregnant anyway.

If you had sex and didn't have a radical hysterectomy, you "could" be pregnant.

Honestly, though, it sounds as if you're just having PMS symptoms coupled with a NEGATIVE result on a pregnancy test. Your cycle may need some time to readjust.
