I hardly ever use mine. My oven has a regular and a conv. setting. I use it mostly for getting the oven to heat up faster, and then switch it to regular bake when its ready.

Not having it would not stop me from buying a house I liked.

It seems...if you've made it this long without one, then it doesn't matter much.

Does your husband cook? If he's the cook in the family, than it maybe important. We bought a house with one, I was so excited, and it's been 2 1/2 years and I haven't used it. For me it's not that important, although, if I knew how to use it maybe it would be important.

It wouldn't make a difference to me but then again, I still wash floors on my hands and knees!

I just got a Kitchen Aid mixer this year and my daughter and b/f bought me my first food processor for Christmas. I'm so old school I remember when the first microwave came out and people had party lines.

The big question would be, do either of you bake/cook enough to make it worth while to your family? Then too, if it's so important to hubby it might just be something to let him do it and not worry about it.

Good luck!

I have always had a microwave/convection oven and hardly used the regular oven at all. I love the convection because it cooks faster and more evenly. It also heats the house less because mine is the size of a large microwave and the oven is so much larger.

I think I would hate to go back to just a regular oven.

Hi,
Convection ovens just cook faster. I don't have one and don't miss it. There have been a few times that I wished I could bake something faster, but not enough to warrant the cost of buying one. I wouldn't let it be a deciding factor in choosing a house either. Cosmetic things and appliances can always be changed. Finding a home with the space, layout, location and yard you want is way more important. A convection oven is just a "gadget" and if your husband is like mine he loves "gadgets"! He may just need a reminder that some things are really cool "nice to have's". :)

Convection ovens are the best. We we replace ours we are going to get one. I would still buy a house that did not have one because you can always change that.

I've used a convection oven and loved it but haven't bought one for my house. Having one would be convenient but certainly not a deal breaker when buying a house. If I could afford it I would buy one when buying an oven.

Does your husband do a lot of baking? If so, then I'd better understand his making this of such importance. If you're the one who'll be using it, then I don't understand his insistence and would wonder what the under lying issue is.

No, not important. I never use mine. The temperature is different and my food seems to burn. It would never be a deciding factor for me.

I have one and like it very much and use it often. It takes some practice to learn to use it properly. It roasts beautifully and my breads come out lovely. I have also used ovens without a convection feature and managed to eat quite well ;)
I wouldn't make it a deal breaker on which home to purchase.
Merry Christmas!

I've been using mine now since 1996 (actually replaced a convection oven with a convection oven). It is really nice, and the setting will almost always be 25 degrees lower that with a regular oven. It's great for roasts, turkey and steaks, and we love it for grilled cheese (broil convection) but you have to watch it when you broil! I wouldn't base purchasing a house on a convection oven, and I could live without it, but it is really a nice feature.
