Hi everyone, my period is late six days now, I've taken 3 pregnancy tests all negative, went to the doctor today and i have a Uti. Doctor couldn't or didn't tell me if im pregnant or not.. I have symptoms of being pregnant, and im never late with my period, even though I've had the infection for a while, its the first time I've ever missed my period. Anybody got any ideas or advice on what to do? Also, is penicillin and uti antibiotics ok to take if your pregnant?

What can I do next?

Welcome to mamapedia!!

If you have had unprotected sex, you can be pregnant. if you have had three pregnancy tests come back negative, you are most likely NOT pregnant.

It's more important to get rid of that UTI before it turns into a kidney infection - if it's not a kidney infection already since you said you have it for a while. And that type of infection CAN through off your body and your hormones.

Good luck!

If you have taken 3 tests, neg, you are probably not pregnant. An illness can throw your cycle off.

An infection is FAR more dangerous than an antibiotics, be sure to take all your meds. I really doubt you're pregnant if you're a week late and still getting negatives... also, if you're trying to conceive, don't let an infection go "for a while", that's not good for you or baby!

Take your antibiotics. Get rid of the infection. You want to take it all and as often as it says. UTIs are nothing to play around with. They can get into your kidneys and cause many more problems.

You really needed to talk with your doctor more. Why didn't you ask the doctor about pregnancy? If it seems that he didn't clarify it for you, I suggest that he thought that you understood that you aren't because of the 3 pregnancy tests. I would think that he wouldn't give you anything that you shouldn't take while pregnant if he thought it was a possibility. But call and ask.

Do take the antibiotics unless told not to do so by the doctor. UTI's can be very serious if left untreated. My cousin's wife died of a massive infection because she refused to see the doctor when she had a UTI.

How old are you, never mind, don't answer.

I had my period every month right on time. I never missed or was late.

When I started menopause, it was very early, I simply forgot that I had missed my period. I freaked out when I was sitting at my desk doing paperwork and one of my toddler room teachers was talking about missing her period and hoped she was pregnant. I hadn't even missed not having mine. It had been 2 months. I started bleeding a few days later and it went on for weeks. SO menopause was a surprise and early. I'd wait and see what happens in the next week or so.

I would call a spade a spade - 3 negative tests means you're not pregnant and that the infection messed with your cycle. Worry about getting rid of the infection - you have plenty of time to have a baby, you're very young.

I'm 22 so its nothing to do with menopause. I hope I am pregnant cause I want a baby! Also I took the tests when I was 4 days an then the morning of the fifth day so I think that's a bit too soon for saying im not pregnant. I did try to talk to the doctor about it but it seemed like he didnt know what to say. Because when I first told him I was late 5 days he said congratulations. Then I told him about the tests and he said youl have to wait and see after the uti clears up. he said sometimes infections can make a pregnancy test turn up negative, it just depends on the type of infection. Thanks to everyone being nice and trying to help me, I really appreciate it.
